Especially when you consider this phone has a 4K HDR screen. Has front facing stereo speakers, Heat Supression technology so you can play games all day long on a phone without ruining battery in it. Sony batteries degrade at a much slower pace. All of my Samsung phones died within 2 years some less than a year. While my Sony XZ Premium keeps going strong, feels like the day I bought it still.

FYI, this xperia have a hidden feature called H.S Power Control, a neat gaming feature that lets you charge and play games by power the phone directly from the charger without charging the battery, thus suppressing the heat while gaming prevents degrading the battery

This was a great review and I'm glad they allowed someone who is actually going to treat the phone the way Sony intends for it to be used to test it instead of just snapping a few pictures and videos and blindly repeating the "it's not as good as an iPhone/Pixel/Galaxy" rhetoric. This was very thoughtful and showcased the features of the Xperia 1 ii nicely. I just wished you showed more camera samples but otherwise very nice. This is the phone I'm really leaning towards and I think I might just go with it this time.

Such as heavy software customization, Bixby, stupid button and port layout, struggle to switch to landscape. And with their subsequent phones they've strangely copied Sony of last year. Good review, however you glossed over the Zeiss coating on the lens, the collaboration with Alpha and CinaAlta, 3D audio, or the ability to be paired with a Dualshock 4 controller for gaming, wifi 6, and of course the 20 fps AF/AE, or the 240 focus points, and lastly the 1/1.7" Exmor RS. While there is plenty more to mention, this review seemed to be positioned on usability, not the entire product itself along with it's features. Nevertheless, still a good review. If your reprieve captures these points, you'd hit a home run.

I'm using Z5 premium but you know the mobile heats up and doesn't give battery life, Snapdragon 835 doesn't do justice to game graphic rendering as half of it is consumed by the display and no doubt Z5 premium has the best display and colors. I really love the xperia image enhancement feature. It heats up quick and doesn't give battery life

When you do your review please mention the heat surpression feature found in game enhancer app, it's keeps the phone running while not charging the battery when the device is plugged into the charger and that is a super feature. For me it is a game changer especially for gamers who are running out of juice but we all know charging a phone while doing cpu or gpu intensive stuff is bad for the battery. Hope when you do the full review the update to bring night mode and raw capture is out with that said I look forward to your review.

It's worth mentioning that while the RRP is £1099 in the UK, I pre-ordered it from O2 yesterday for £799. Still comes with the free headphones for pre-ordering the phone. Admittedly if you want a SIM free version that doesn't help, but for contract it makes the price much more reasonable.

About gaming, it has a feature called H.S. Control. When it's enabled and it detects that the phone is plugged in the charger, the phone will take power directly to the charger without using the battery while plugged in. It's meant to prevent the battery from heating up while gaming on the phone while plugged in. It will continue to charge the battery when you're out of gaming mode or if you disable it.

I was excited for this phone. But if I compare this to other phones. The last and best option I come up with is LG V60. It costs less, has the premium Quad dac, headphone jack, Voice Bokeh, Great cameras and dual screen with a 5000mA battery with a fantastic 6.8 inch LG screen with a beautiful new UI similar to Samsung. Honestly I loved the short film. For a phone in is infancy it's got actual potential. I understand it's new but it does have a WB lock so the colour won't change when the scene does. I noticed a couple of times the WB adjusted but if you used the lock and graded the color it would've been perfect. One thing that can't get better is the acting! That's Oscar level worthy 😆

Again...another critic that does not know or forgets to mention the audio output capability for Hi-Res which enables better sound quality for flac files. This phone is coming even with an virtual Doulbly Atmos. If Sony expertise in camera is played strongly here, one should not forget its heritage of sound engineering. They are really upping the game with all the 3D sound technology which they developed for the newer playstation 5. All of that for U$1200 with a wireless phone that taps into that audio quality -not expensive at all for its value.

Pre-ordered this one. I had Xperia 1, 5. The price compares to Samsung and apple that marketing points(no headphone jack, full screen-- just so hard to use with two hand because the side display kept being touched my by hands, no ugly notch) is not high at all, so sony has 4k display, Alpha camera feature, AF, 10bit color display, Stereo Speakers(most phone don't have), yes, the drawback that it doesn't have the 120 refresh rate.

The Xperia might be the most complete phone now but it comes at a price. The Pro apps are simply outstanding, the design is unique and the screen is gorgeous. Also it looks to be a stock Android experience. You compared the Pro Apps with Filmic Pro but actually mcpro24fps could be better and it's highly recommended for Sony phones. Great review!

This was a dope review with the short film. Definitely a better ad than the "shot on an 11 pro" commercial. I'm now interested in this phone, but agree with others at the price point being too high. Not saying it's not worth the price, but I want Sony too succeed and there's heavy competition in that range, so undercutting Samsung and Apple would've been the best thing to do
