The best just keeps on getting better. Since LG has left the smartphone market, Sony is the only sensible brand daring enough not to catch on the trend and be different and I totally love that.
@Roomer6452 жыл бұрын
Not to catch on the trend ??? They do not supply the charger or even a cable ! Sure, the headphone jack is there but most people enjoy their wireless systems anyways. SD card slot is fine BUT if you use it you lose dual sim, why not have both like some phones. They SHOULD catch on the software support trend. Sony is way behind with just 2 years of OS support. They are really lacking. And ofcourse the poor heat management is a shame. Ever used a Sony and made videos ?? Sony is a hardware and media company first, and its seen in their smartphone designs that don't come with notches or other cutouts (except for the Xperia Ace 2 for certain regions). If you look closely, the Mark series of smartphones look like a small OLED TV. And TVs are used for entertainment. You only need to focus on what you are watching on a high resolution screen without the distractions of a cutout when using full screen mode, and hear the sound produced by its dual front-facing stereo speakers or your wired headphones. The design came from Sonys Omnibalance philosophy from a few years ago and it still looks modern and minimalist until today. They also retained the notification LED because common sense dictates that you can still use your eyes to find out that you have a message or unanswered call even if you are not using always-on screen features.

The photos and videos from the mark IV are looking impressive. I honestly believe that in another generation or two (mark v or vi) SONY is going to have one hell of a camera system on their phones. Despite the smear jobs by idiots like Marque Brown and his ilk SONY is IMHO doing some of the most exciting stuff right now with smartphone photography.

I genuinely don't get the Sony consumer base. They essentially make phones for tech nerds who view themselves as professionals, because after 10 minutes of adjusting a photo they'd just taken, it looks 80% as good as something an iPhone or a Samsung phone puts out automatically after pressing the shutter button. Sony phone design principles are absolutely idiotic, forgive the hyperbole. These phones have nice specs on paper, but in practice what is the point of a 4k120 display WITHOUT DYNAMIC REFRESH RATE if after a couple of hours the battery is dead. What's the point of these fancy camera sensors, if the competition's software processing absolutely massacres what Sony has to offer, not even mentioning the fact that it still doesn't have night mode. What's the point of almost matching the iPhones in Geekbench, if your chip is running so hot that it has to heavily throttle for you to be even able to hold your phone (that one is on Qualcomm I guess). Like this phone is $1600, and it will only have 2 years of software support, what an absolute joke.

@sterix_gg2 жыл бұрын
Imagine putting a 1300 pounds price tag on your phone and have it throttle. If they don't fix that by the official release it'd be a sad story because other than that it looks like a really good phone. I'd wish the SD didn't share the 2nd sim slot cuz I actually need 2 sims all the time but I guess I can live with that. The design is probably the best out of all phones atm although ofc that is subjective. I'm not one to consider paying this much for a phone when a midranger for 5 times less money would pretty much suffice my needs and yet I did consider it with this one if not for the thermal issues.

@Ziegeri2 жыл бұрын
The strength of natural colour scheme is that you can easily edit it to look appealing to you, while colour correcting pre processed photos is more difficult. Also the phone version of lightroom is really easy and fast to use and more than enough for most people who takes most of their photos with phones.

Design is nice but the front with bezels looks 2018. The aspect ratio isn't the greatest either. The display isn't as bright as the competition, last year it was terrible outside, this year it's okay. Charging is slow for 2022, Speakers are good but not great which is weird for a company like Sony AND having front firing speakers !! Camera is good in automode. It's not gonna match the Iphone, S22 ultra and Pixel 6 in a test. Mark my words ! 90% of the users are not able to use it to the full extend in manual mode. We have seen that year after year with the complex camera apps (3 of them !) and Pixel that costs half taken by my 5 year old that renders a better result. Nobody cares if you took it with manual settings or the AI and algo did the rest, it's the result that counts. 3.5 mm jack is nice but year after year it's less of an issue for most.

I have a couple of questions: 1. Does the SD card tray support 2 SIMs? I saw in the specs, that the phone supports 2 SIMs, but it's unclear how exactly. I would assume SD card tray, but was not able to find a picture to see it in detail. 2. Can you set resolution to 1080p and refresh rate to 60fps on permanent basis? Likento save battery in certain situations. 3. Can you switch between photo and video apps from within the apps? Or do you need to close an ap and open another one? Like on other phones switch between video and photo usually means 1 tap/swipe. How is it in this one?
@vjbk15872 жыл бұрын
No, only 1 sim at a time if you want to use an SD card as well. It has support for 2 sims but you have to remove the SD card. For the life of me I cannot understand why they had to go with the hybrid system. I do use 2 sims and I like having an SD card slot. Wish they would have just went with a 3 card tray. 2 sim and one SD card, but as I am in the market for a new phone as annoying as this is it's not a deal breaker for me.

I hope they sell well because this is kind of reaching the boundary for a daily flagship smartphone price range. 1000 - 1300 is fine, but 1600 should be some very niche professional phone, not under the regular flagship. Imaging this year the Xperia pro-(??) price might hit to 2000 again. I will get both, but I hope they can benefit this time. They should also stop wasting time on those money-grab phone accessories like backbone and Xperia Steam(I am not sure what that is called) and focus on phones and lower the price. Not to mention this time they don't give a charger to save money for them.

Using both sim cards is mission impossible, as it gave you temperature warning even when you using it to speak over social media. When recording any video, you need to hold the phone extremely careful bcs of the microphone, as it picks up every sound when you touching your phone or pushing some buttons on it, very annoying.
