My last Sony phone was an XA, because at the time, it was the only available Xperia where I was living, then, Sony retired the brand from the country, but now, I live in europe and I want to come back to the Xperia line. Nah, they're still pretty far from it. > Xperia 1 IV has insane overheating issues. Among the worst of any phone, even a few minutes of taking pictures or video when it's not even that hot around can already make it overheat, after which it throttles down significantly and disables 120 Hz mode and makes some features unavailable until it cools down. The phone can also get fairly warm when you're just browsing the web and watch videos. Part of it may be the Snapdragon being bad with it, but an even bigger part of it is Sony's engineering. This really shouldn't have been an issue at all when it launched. > Despite having a 5000 MaH capacity battery, it drains significantly faster than any other phone on the market that's also using a 5000 MaH capacity battery. > 4K is limited to gaming, video making and picture making and video watching only. > There's no macrolens. > The cameras are a mere 12 MP so the image looks significantly worse when you zoom in compared to the competitors. > To add to that, the software processing is garbage. @@wnj765 doesn’t really matter, most laptops now only have usb and no sd card slots so you can just connect a cable and watch your 4K content, instead of first taking out the card, then using an adapter then putting it in, so more steps. And usb will support a monitor or tv

Sony Xperia devices are the best example of why Antutu Benchmark or Geekbench results are meaningless. Its about raw, real world performance. Sony advertises their phone with "speed is everything" and thats so true. The real world UI experience is so important and somehow Sony delivers the best even tho they use the same SD chipset as all other Android Flagships. They always leave others in the dust in a raw real world performance test and you can search up just about any speed test since the XZ3. You wont see a single Xperia lose against another current flagship of that respective year. I think this has to do alot with software optimization. Sony delivers near stock Android experience with a perfectly optimized UI. And I think the Snapdragon Chipsets just love the Sony software. They work like a lighting strike on Xperia devices. The Xperia phones are even officially used as gaming devices for the PUBG championschip. The same chipset should not outperform the identical chipset on another phone. However the Sony Xperia 1 IV and its predeccessors already have proven, that its possible. Even Apple needs to bow down.

It's always Sony, at least for me. I can't honestly stand iPhones or their stup$·%& OS. It's so annoying. But something has to be said about the Xperia line. Just last year, in a way, Sony has really really find a good balance, I think, in terms of performance and specs. And I believe that, if they stick to it, meaning, having something like the 1 line and 10 line of Xperias, they can truly come back as a player in the phone market. Because, lets be honest, they have no market share SADLY. Most of the techs out there, like the features a lot of people can't live without, where established by Sony but they had no clients almost when they were releasing them. Truly hope they can turn back the situation.

If the sound fragment in this video is an accurate representation of reality, the iphone's sound quality is terrible. I cannot imagine it is that bad when you hear it irl. The sound of the Sony is fuller and more balanced. Both phones probably have options to optimize the sound though. I'm familiar with Sony phones. They have a ton of options.

The iphone processor might be the best, you are restricted in what you can do with it by Apple (No switch emulation, no windows emulation, no overclocking... Though sony phones aren't an example as far as freedom goes, unlike One Plus, Google, or Asus

Hi, something I found at Xperia phone, I have Xperia XZ PREMIUM (which 16:9 screen)and Xperia 1 II (which 21:9 screen), when I open social app like Instagram or TikTok in both phones, found out the video content screen of 1 II has little bit left and right ripped off compare to XZ PREMIUM, but 1 II top and bottom has show up which XZ PREMIUM hasn't, I need to know about iPhone 13 pro max, is it same screen size show up compare to Xperia 1 IV?? You should only test and compare optical zoom. Comparing digital zoom is pointless because you can technically zoom in idefinitely

The iphone goes up to 3x zoom and the sony to 5.2x zoom and thats the only valid comparison because after that everything is basically just like cropping the photo.

Wind filter may have been turned on, and cleaned out wind noise which made it sound quieter.

Actually dolby atmos removed so much noise in an audio stream that it sound very different from the source. The speaker test should be redone with that turned off. Bass is better with it on but sound clearity is sacrificed due to that background noise suppression.

Me too... I've stopped at my xz2 phone.. This new aspect ratio.. Not good for video consumption.. Sadly. @@PhoneBattles I am using Xperia 10 III. The camera app comes with my phone starts pretty slow and takes around 5sec switch between lenses usually. I am quite disappointed since the camera should be what Sony is strong with. Thanks for the reply btw.

Yeah I'm not sure why it's so low here. I tried it again just now and the scores were much higher. Maybe it was overheating during the test since that results in lower scores

Is it 4k all the time? Old sony phones used to be just 1080p and 4k only in certain apps. Iphone looks way sharper in games and sounds better. Display is brighter on the Iphone as the Sony maxes out at 1000 nits. Would love to see a outdoor visibility test of the Display vs Iphone and s22 ultra. Good stuff man 🔥

It doesn't need to run 4K at all times because that just stresses the SoC too much. Regardless, 1080p would still look better on a 4K screen that if it were to run on a native 1080p screen. Besides, Sony has implemented Bravia upscaling algorithm on these Xperias, so even low-resolution content would still look better on Sony screens because they get upscaled to near 4K quality (at least that's the case for the Xperia 1 devices), further enhancing the image quality and still making good sense of having 4K screen.

@@damesdamo So uhmm, what else should you know anyway?? Does it always run in 4K at all times? The *software* does NOT, but the display hardware itself is always 4K 120Hz, because it's not like it turns some pixels off to become a lower-resolution panel. Also, everything I said in the previous reply is just an explanation of why it's not in 4K all the time, and that contributes to the better battery life of newer Xperia 1 smartphones, along with generational SoC efficiency and battery capacity improvements. Hopefully this is the right answer now, Mr. idunnowhothehellareyoubutiknowthatyou'reapersonanyway
