Excellent video. I got a Sony 10vi because I wanted the super long battery life, the SD card slot and 3.5mm headphone socket and I like the size and weight. And I love having FPS on the side. The camera for me is secondary. This video gave me some ideas of things to try, and also emphasised how much the photographer matters compared to the phone.

@@ThroughJermainesLens I've only just got it. I'll know better after a few days! I've been using an LG v60 for a long time, which I loved for audio quality, 3.5mm headphone socket, SD card slot, adaptive aptx HD, ldac... As well as a removable second screen (brilliant idea). OS and security updates ran out and I recently moved to an iPhone 15 pro max as my main phone and love it. I can get more integrated customisation with it than any other phone I've had, using the focus modes, scrolling widgets, action button (great for launching different menu options depending on the focus mode). And the dynamic island is very useful (can be customised too). But I wanted a small android phone as well. And the Sony 10vi fitted nicely!

@@ThroughJermainesLens had the 10vi for 9 days now and love it. Battery life is brilliant - iPhone 15 pro max territory. The 10vi is light and the narrower dimensions make it comfortable to hold one handed. The taller dimensions also make it practical for reading eBooks, for managing tasks etc. Audio quality with the 3.5mm headphone socket, wireless aptX adaptive & LDAC and the external speaker are great. And having the SD card is great. There aren't many phones I'd buy again straight away as a replacement if I lost them, however, the Sony 10vi is a phone I would easily buy again. Having the 4 years of security updates was the decider for me. I'm using Niagra launcher with it - this fits the taller form perfectly for me. Did I say it's light?:) Oh and the FPS on the side is such a relief after my Samsung s23 ultra.

No Pro mode? What the hell was Sony thinking? Can you at least sideload the Camera Pro app from the 1VI unto it? Or will the app refuse to work? Anyway, the more interesting thing about the Xperia 10 line-up to me is the chance we might be able to load SailfishOS on it. Jolla usually releases their OS for the 10 line. Otherwise, it's as oversized as the rest and doesn't offer much to justify the price Sony is asking for it, when compared to other mid-rangers.

yeah no pro mode, for the sideloading the camera pro app, I haven't tried any of that, this was the first day taking it out xD And if often focus on how a set phone performs as it is delivered ^^ And also when you talk about the SailfishOS, I don't ever play around with any of that, I only ever did something with the software of my phone when it comes to the note 7 where it was a must because else you couldn't charge it hahaha.

But considering the version of Android that Sony ships nowadays is utter garbage, were I to return to their phones, I would absolutely change it. And SailfishOS could be ingesting to try. But yeah, for your review it's not important. You might want to try the sideloading of the Camera Pro apk, though. 'cause it would be good for information sake. That way someone who likes photography and may be looking at this phone' cause they can't afford the 1VI can know if they can improved their camera experience themselves on it or not ;)

I see you editing the photos in lightroom, does that mean you make the photo on the 10vi in raw? so shooting raw is possible or?

This red sensibility and dark shadows are common digital camera weak points. Filters and additional light solve problems. In pocket camera class, sony is good one. By its good screen, you can see what you got.

Even in the video you can see how camera app is bugging... omg Sony in the year when Motorola and other brands (I don't even talk about Google) sell good midrange phones for 400 euro, with refined software, you still can't do proper camera app. Sad

you should compare this 10 vi with the 10 v and then its probably a huge improvement. nonetheless no phone is perfect but sony does 100% really nice features. Check the comparion sony xperia 10vi with google pixel 8 and 2 samsungs. these photos of sony are deffinitly improved

So weird how the 1 VI returns to a more normal screen aspect ratio, while the 10 VI still with that 21:9 ratio

It seems like 10 series is 1 year late with updates. In xperia 5 V the telephoto camera got removed, but stayed for 1 more generation in xperia 10. I think that in 7th generation xperia 10 might change screen proportions or get more than 60 hz screen... Or maybe it will get both. Personally I like 21:9 aspect ratio, because the phone is easier to hold, but I would prefer it to be just under 6" while having more standard proportions

Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with the photos from the Sony camera. Cheaper smartphones take better photos. Sony has bad autofocus, little detail in the shadows, distorted colors - not very natural. You can see blue fringes of chromatic aberration. In the Sony smartphone camera application, there are no advanced settings.
