Nice review. Three Sony Xperia 10vi is one of the most enjoyable phones I've had. Battery life is insane. The narrowness and weight makes it a joy to hold. Audio quality on wired (3.5mm headphone socket) and wireless (aptX adaptive & LDAC with Bluetooth 5.4 and BT LE). And WiFi 7. SD card slot is fantastic (I have 200gb of lossless uncompressed and it's great that I can use one of my SD cards rather than have to spend out on more internal storage). I want expecting much from the camera at the price but was surprised and enjoy taking photos with it.

@@andreydavydov6417 Actually, point and shoot the special moments of life - this is the common and natural use case for the use of cameras in phones, for most people, maybe like 99% of the time. You can do that too in Xperia phones in Auto Mode, but most probably you will not like the results. I've been using Google Camera mods for many years giving me very Pixel-like performance, and they are really nice looking photos (contrasty, punchy with great HDR and night shots) and my friends like them too. When I purchased a Sony Xperia XZ2 (old flagship from 2018), most photos look pale, some are overexposed, etc. But when I try to examine those photos closely, they look more natural and color-accurate. And fast to focus too. Now, I would like to try using Xperia 1 series second hand, to try using the manual controls and the Pro Mode. I've seen other KZbin reviewers who compared Xperia 1 ii vs Galaxy S20 Ultra and iPhone 12 Pro, and when he used the Pro Mode/Manual of the Xperia, the results are much much better than the Samsung and iPhone. And I mean, MUCH BETTER! That is because that KZbin reviewer knows photography. And he said multiple times in the video that it only took him several seconds (4-10) to adjust the manual settings in the Xperia before taking the shots. Actually the reviewer in this video just didn't put the real capabilities of the Xperia in Manual Mode. He tried in some shots, but most probably he's not that good or he did not try enough as the KZbin reviewer I mentioned above. So, if you want everyday photography for fast shooting with good results, go to Samsung, Pixel, iPhone, etc. You can do that too in Xperia but most of the time you will be disappointed. If photography is your hobby and you are willing to take some time to have great shots, better than the Auto Mode of all other brands, go to Xperia. There's no reason for arguments here. Just choose the phone that suits your needs and wants.

I'm guessing that one of the reasons sony phone cameras aren't as good as they could be is that sony is worried it would eat into their regular camera sales, the phones are more inexpensive compared to the full sized cameras because no one would buy a 1500 dollar phone. But the sony mobile division is so small its just difficult for them in general to make good products that sre cheap.

I returned an iPhone 16 and a Galaxy S24 in favor of the Xperia 10 VI simply because of the accurate colors (especially in low light) and primarily the unprocessed look. I absolutely hate the AI "enhancements" that make every shot look like watercolor smudges. They are especially horrible for pet fur, but I dislike them in general. Shots on the Xperia 10 VI main sensor look clean, natural and unprocessed. I absolutely love it. It's a shame that the selfie cam is mediocre in good light and terrible in low light, but overall it cemented my decision to go for an Xperia flagship next time around.

Specifically, is there a noticeable delay between taking the photo and it got saved to appear in the camera roll? My current midrange Oppo handles snapping photos quickly and multitasks smoothly, so I’m curious about your experience with this phone. Thanks!

Honestly in low light performance is a bit poor, while retaining that proper feel. The 6.1" screen is only "small" on paper, though. I think that's important to point out. Because the 10 VI uses that silly useless 21:9 aspect ratio for the screen, what that means is that the 6,1" screen on the Xperia is HARDER to use with one hand than the 6.1" screen on the S23 for example. Because the overall dimensions of the phone change. Where as the S23 is 14,6cm tall, the Xperia 6 VI is 15,5cm tall. That's almost as tall as the S23+ at 15,7cm tall, and that one has a 6.6" screen. Which means I really don't know who the Xperia 10 VI is for. The cameras aren't great and it doesn't even have a Pro mode. So it's absolutely not for fans of photography. The size is enormous and much bigger than other phones on the market with the same 6.1" screen. So it's not for fans of "smaller" oversized phones. The software is stockish garbage, but the long terms support is virtually non-existent. So it's not for fans of stock Android. And considering the price, it's not really for people on a budget either, 'cause it doesn't give you much for your money. Quite honestly, the microSD slot and 3.5mm headphone jack are the only selling points this phone has. But is that enough to convince people to pick it over the competition? I don't think so. Specially because in the mid-range it's still easier to find phones like the Moto G Stylus or the Galaxy A24, which also have those features. Sony would sell more units of an Xperia 1 VI Compact with a proper sized screen (say, 5.5") than they will of this Xperia 10 VI.
@ThroughJermainesLens6 ай бұрын
Yes till a degree, of course if software is integrated well reaching at the top part of the phone isn't as important, That being said, you have all your settings up there so it is. In turn with this way of making it, the phone is less wide, the samsung is 7.06cm wide, where the sony is 6.8 cm wide, making it "easier" to grip. Though for myself I would say I do prefer a less tall form factor simply because there are controls up there! And for a 5.5" phone, While I would love to see it, I don't think it does well, Apple stopped with the smaller form factor and Samsung keeps making theirs bigger, so it seems to not sell as well. (6.1 to 6.2 between s23 and s24) But a 5.5 to 5.8" with a single great main camera 30mm, with the 3.5 and microSD, yeah that would be a great bloody idea!
@___David__6 ай бұрын
@@ThroughJermainesLens "And for a 5.5" phone, While I would love to see it, I don't think it does well" Well, the iPhone 12 Mini alone sold more units than the entire S21 line-up combined. Same for the 13 Mini. And the Mini sold more than the Plus that replaced it. So I'd argue there's definitely a market for smaller phones. On Apple's case, however, it would help if they hadn't released the Minis alongside the even smaller SE's. Samsung on the other hand is basically only making phones thinking of the Chinese market, as it's been evident for the "let's copy Apple" approach since TM Roh took over. And in China they do prefer large phones as it's the only computing device for many people there.
