It's actually 158mm tall which is TALLER THAN GALAXY S10+. iPhone SE2 is compact, Galaxy S20 is not compact but it's pocketable, Xperia 5 II is just another overgrown phablet. Also, big lols at 3:29 where Saf compares this phone to Note 20 Ultra - whose large display is one of its selling point - to show that 5II is compact. Sounds like he was instructed by Sony...

Just a tip for using side sense: It's highly customizable. Once you're in side-sense settings you can do quite a few things to improve/personalize its functionality and ease of use. For starters, you can move the sensing area inside the screen which will make it much easier to engage - it will appear as two sidebars. You can control their transparency, length, and location. Furthermore, you can also adjust the sensitivity of double-tapping and swiping side-sense. Then, you can customize what each gesture does. Just as an example, on my Xperia 1ii I chose split-screen selection mode when swiping up, taking a screenshot when swiping down, and one-handed mode when double-tapping. The 4K HDR (10bit) 120fps slow-motion can be found in Cinema Pro.

The 1ii and 5ii were amazing steps in the right direction. I REALLY hope the mark 3 variants of these are even better; if sony can improve the camera quality a bit (in terms of detail, noise, smoothing, etc.) improve the speakers (loudness and clarity) and on the 1iii, improve the brightness...holy freaking wow.

having the xperia 1 I like what sony does, but software and just the smoothness of the phones needs work for myself. AND the display brightness... that is a yikes for me BUT gotta love the headphone jack!!!

interesting, first person I've seen be negative about software and smoothness, usually it's the opposite. I have the 1 ii too and it's leaps and bounds the best phone I've had, near stock android with imo really useful additions such as sidesense. Been using it a lot split screening youtube and facebook etc and works like a charm

Both the 1 II and 5 II are incredible smartphones. There's not a lot of difference between them; the 5 II has a higher refresh rate, a 2K (Full HD Plus) display compared to the 1 II's 4K, and the screen is slightly smaller (6.1"). If I had to choose either of them (1 II or 5 II), I'd honestly go for the 1 II.

Xperia 1 will always have the 4k display judging by its recent product released trend, and 5 will always be 1's compact and refined version. I am sure next year's Xperia 1 (mark iii) will still have 4k display plus 120hz refresh rate

The only downside and possible deal breaker for me is too many buttons on 1 side of the phone, making the use of tripod or car phone holder a hassle. Every thing else looks promising. Hopefully Sony keeps or improve this recipe next year aside from those busy right hand side.
