This is a perfect example of why you pull *slowly* on the adhesive pull tabs under the battery. Saves a headache trying to pry the battery up with force.

Amazing and informative video. Kudos.🙌 This video just shows the quality construction of sony smartphones. Also it explains why xperia flagships don't have edge to edge display (because of space occupied by fingerprint sensor) and why big bezel on top (Most of the part is occupied by camera sensor). Sony can try putting the camera in the centre of the device to have minimum bezel.

Very good teardown video, informative and helpfu. I was a little bit worry about the power button because it's a little loose. Although nothing bothers my daily use but I still check it from time to time in case there's no sign that it's gonna drop off. Thanks to your guide, I changed battery and USBC connector, still can not charge. I found that I need to press the USBC flex to motherboard connection and it can sometimes charge, I don't find any problem on the motherboard USB jack connector, any suggestions? Thanks.

Where exactly is the heat sink? The Z5 Premium had a huge copper sink with paste, but I don't see anything similar to that, yet the phone is always cool.

I was wondering what was wrong with mine, the screen first only lit up in half, then wouldn't light up at all - turns out the flex tape was ripped towards the bottom, where it meets the assembly on the lower right of the phone. I think that must have caused the complete lack of image, I'll be buying a new one and see if changing it helps

You should probably do a practice tear down before making a video.... sharp tweezers for peeling up ribbon cables..... it was clear the tech didn’t know how to take the mid frame out... not the worst tear down I’ve witnessed but as a repair shop owner there are some techniques being used here that are putting the phone at risk...

My answer is: 1. No, I'm not use XZP everyday, just 2-3 days in a week (cause I've got so many other phones to take care of) 2. Yes, I love it, among so many Sony phone I've been used. 3. Yes, I reassemble that XZP after finish the teardown video shooting, I can't stand seeing it became several parts. 4. After disassemble XZP cannot be water-resistant anymore, if you do that to your XZP and if you love it, keep it away from water. *Mine is Luminous Chrome(as you can see in the video) Have a nice day ;-)

Then you can try add some waterproof glue, like B-7000, as well as the original XZP adhesive. But personally I don't recommend to take a repaired XZP near water or under water, no one knows what will happen

@@EricWitrigs Wow, good to know. I had a problem with mine this weekend and had my XZP wet for a bit while in 9% of battery. I did the normal procedure of warming it and left it for about 40 minutes before having to charge because I needed to my work. 10 min after charging the phone just goes black and not working anymore. Hope is nothing major since the phone didn't display the warning of not to plug the phone with it in wet conditions like I know it does. Do you have any idea of the chances of being total dead of just any other electrical problem?

Can anyone tell me why it vibrates at the back when you put up the volume? I was hoping I'll see the reason but I'm still puzzled. The teardown seems like a nightmare. The components are so compact to think the top & bottom bezels are a waste.

Hey there. Great clip. I have a question, the bluetooth on my XZ premium is not working, I strongly suspect hardware malfunction. Everything else is completely ok. Can you tell me which part shown on the clip can I suspect of being broken? In other words, which one is a bluetooth module? Regards.

Try input *#*#7378423#*#* in dial menu, setting tests > Bluetooth and test it. If nothing change, go to Sony service center, they can help you.

need spome help, plugged my xz premium into charge one day, it didnt like the charger, turned off and now its stuck in a constant boot loop, tried factory reset but nope. just shows the sony logo. any ideas on what to do/ replace?

Did you drop it before or immerse in water? If yes, try draining out the battery and then turn it on. If not, check whether the power button stuck or not.

Man. I also have problem like you. Now i send to sony center to claim warranty..the story is my phone just immerse in rain. I Plug in, charge is normal. After i unplug. Cant ON and tried to hard reset. ON but stuck at logo..Hardware problem maybe

Cam Holla they said hardware problem. Maybe extra water still have in usb port that can short circuit in board (maybe attack ROM). Sony center will replace mainboard..

I know this was a couple of years ago but my XZP has just developed the exact same problem - plugged charger in, turned off and then a permanent Sony screen loop - did you ever get yours fixed? And if so did you find out what the problem was? Thanks!
