Not to contradict the reviewer, but just want to put my two cents out there - my XZ2 Compact runs almost perfectly, with no lag or unexpected crashes. The only exception, a malfunctioning camera app, was fixed with a recent patch. Just FYI, the frame is aluminum, not plastic - only the back is plastic - and it doesn't have wireless charging, unless Sony forgot to mention it.

Does your XZ2c overheat like some of its predecessors? I'm willing to upgrade from my Z5c and I'm considering XZ2c since it's the only small and good handset nowadays, otherwise i'll go for One+ 6 or Galaxy S9.

you're right it doesn't have wireless charging & even the bigger Sony Xperia XZ2 doesn't have fast wireless charging but just normal slow wireless charging.

sony has build in lots of background services/apps and overarching modifications which heat their phones , without root and serious debloating its hard to live with a sony phone , with debloating its the best experience ever

I highly believe in the fact you got 2 faulty units... My XZ 2 Compact runs extremly smooth, the only issue I have is about the camera that refuses to launch sometimes... Other than that this is by far the smoothest smartphone I ever see/use. Even in a country like mine, in summer (I live under the equator), the phone barely heats up and only when playing heavy games.

What about call quality? No one ever mentions this in phone reviews these days, but how does this phone work as a....phone? I need a phone this size and can’t use the iPhone 7 or 8 for various reasons. But I’ve heard anecdotally from some Amazon reviews and stuff that calls are muffled or drop a lot. Can you tell me how you found the call quality please (anyone)?

Same story for me. But it can't replace. It's still too big even though Darius K claims it's small and can be used with one hand. I've tried and I couldn't. So iPhone SE is still the last really compact smartphone with flagship-ish parameters. I don't know what to do if Apple really cuts off compact phones. Probably I'll gonna use my SE until it dies in some 5... 10 years and then we'll see.

Raziel Ehkano if the s8 can have one so can the xz2 the only reason they left it out was so they can quicken the life span of the device. Either you use Bluetooth more and your battery gets shot (well better upgrade) or your USB C gets messes up (well guess its time to upgrade) seriously fuck these lazy bullshit tactics

I have a little issue with Spotify not showing a notification from time to time, but I'm not sure if it's Sony's issue or Sportify's. Other than that, this device is lightning fast, if not the fastest one on the market. I can't understand how you can say it lags!?

I have the xz2c here. Spotify does behave oddly (it's my only concern about software on the device). When you press play, make sure there is a notification of the player up there. If there isn't restart the app and press play again.

If anyone wants my take on this phone, video is on my channel. I like the idea but it's rather boringly executed. I talk about this. It's great that we have an option for small and nice phones but why is this the only one?? Frustrating. It could have been much better, especially for the price. A headphone jack wouldn't hurt. Generally a good review. However I have to pick you up on a couple of points. You say that the battery could have been larger because of the size of the phone. How can you possibly say that - did you take it apart and check all that spare room inside that Sony didn't make use of? I don't think so. Secondly you have nothing but praise for the glass back on the larger model. I have owned a phone with a glass back, never again, that would be a total no no for me. One thump on the ground and it broke. And this one protrudes, making it especially vulnerable. Cheers.

Glass backs enable wireless charging, of which the XZ2 Compact is not capable. I too refuse to pay crazy Apple iPhone prices, but at the same time refuse to carry round a phone the size of a tablet. Here's hoping there is XZ3 Compact in works that is wireless charging enabled, until such time I can't justify moving from my trusty XZ1 Compact.

Like I wanted a biased kid to review a Sony phone. Pixel peepers disagree with you in its camera. It's the best camera atm according to an unbiased reviewer. As for the freezes, proof or it won't happen. On the other hand s9 freezes like a freezer after a year of use

I'm looking for a compact smartphone in the US and seems like my choices are either this phone or the new iPhone SE. @@Moneybussinez Thanks. I actually got the Pixel 3a, very happy with it. I just wished it was a bit more compact and the screen didn't suffer from the "yellowish white" issue (which I fixed partially so it's OK now). I chose it over the SE and sacrificed compactness because battery and photo quality was more important to me and the new SE, according to many reviews, suffers from 2 problems: the unnatural colors in photos that are over saturated and the lack of night mode.

My "old" Xperia X Compact has better battery life, sufficient speed, smaller dimensions, has less weight and it has a headphone audiojack (including headhones with radio antenna). Why pay more for stupid features almost no-one needs?

sad to see sony struggling with software, i used to have a xperia m(a budget device) which was very smooth in terms of UI. also they seriously need to work on their camera as well if they want to be taken seriously.

TechCilium the XZ2(compact) has one of the best cameras this year.. Check out Pixel Peepers channel. They give a very good in depth comparison with other flagships, and Sony wipes the floor with all of them. The XZ2 Premium will be even better. Don't be fooled by all the iPhone, Samsung, Pixel and Huawei biased reviews out there. This year, Sony is up there with the best.

Please speak English the proper way. Zed, not zee (not Sie ;-)). Route is originally a French word. Rooooot. It is not the same as rout. Thank you. I would have preferred if Sony kept the same shape as the XZ1 Compact: rectangle with rounded side edges. Agree tha the fingerprint reader is a bit low, but probably intentional, to avoid fingers accidently overshooting and touching the camera lens. Again, I prefer XZ1c's placement on the power button. Xperia Compacts were never a specced down version, unlike the others with their Minis.

There is no proper way to say a word or in this case a letter in any language. Like Spanish the letters are pronounced very differently between Latin America and Spain. It is based off of the people that change the language and you cannot criticize them for saying it a different way
