Sorin first of all thank you very much about the tip with the soundbox isolation, that was fantastic. In return my advice for the glue if you want black color you can use T-7000 its the same as B-7000 in black, i use those 2 everyday, that glue is better than the manufacturer, when i use them i know whatever is supposed to stick it will stay there.

Why does it seem that so many of this high end electronics need constant repair??? Ribbon cables popping out of their connectors by themselves seems really weird and unnecessary to me. It's bad enough when components break or short out but ribbon cables just disconnecting themselves doesn't say much about Sony products. This isn't the first and only video that we've seen this same problem. Great job Sorin.

Hi Sorin, good job keep run it. Few days ago they bring to my lab a same phone with same problem. I don't know how you charge. I live in Greece and my cost was about 32 euros. And i am cheap. elsewhere they cost this job above 45 euros. that's all keep doing what you do

Two pro fixes. Good skills during screen out. Very quick diagnose and chip replacement, without long time consuming- pads cleaning and without pro flux (just simply Kalafonia (rosin)) For me it's impossible. For Sorin possible and done :)

haha :-) it's smell beautiful -that's for sure - the best smell between all fluxes, but try to do a reflow or reballing bigger bga chips /CPU/gpu. I bet it is not impossible but very difficult because Rosin is boiling in high temperature and that air bubbles can lifting up the chip during process. And after job is done I think it is bad to leave it under the chip because it can react with the board later.

i actually followed this procedure on my xperia XZ1 and found the connector disconnected ,i just put it back and now my phone is charging....thanks alot

Just had the exact same fault on my Sony zx1, just stopped charging so after looking at your video I set about taking it apart. Worse thing was knowing how hot to get the phone to loosen the glue. Got the screen off, took the backing plate off and my phone had the same connector not fitted, I pressed it back into place and plugged the screen back in and charged the phone. Started to charge straight away and screen working too. Just need the glue to glue the screen back in place. I only brought the phone a year ago brand new, so looks like Sony have a problem. Thanks great video and well presented.

My chargers has been twitching from charge to no charge. Now its stopped. I wonder if it has suffered the same issue. Think I'm going to have a look tommoz. Will hair dryer work to loosen the glue.

Decent video. Bought the kit from Wit Rigs and the parts were all good. Make sure you get a suction cup to lift the glass(I made my own). BE CAREFUL - When you slide the card in to break the seal of the glass/adhesive and the case, its easy to slide between the screen and glass as well. You dont want to do this as it can make your screen looked fucked by introducing air/particles between them. You only want to just barely get past the perimeter of the glass.

i think you are wrong :) Badly! rtx2080ti+Apex Legends(or Fortnite), u can't get more that 80-85 stable fps on 1440p :) On the streaming pc, just streaming obs is taking 60% from rtx 2070. Gaming and streaming at a decent quality is not easy.

2080ti is needed if You want to have high fps on 1440 and stream at the same time. It is not a waste. I've got 6700 and gtx 980 and wouldn't dream to stream high bitrate without the lags on 1440p.

I dont know what bitrate she stream on, but I watch so many streamers. Most of them are using much lower specs and stream on same games on 1440p - output 1080p60 with super good quality without any issues. :)) Im speaking for single pc with 8700k and 1080ti. He play on 1440p, outout to 1080p60 and decent image quality.

That glue looks almost the same as bostik or uhu, a general clear glue :-).

For screens that have a tendency to crack when flexed, could you could rig up some kind of a vacuum chuck that could hold the screen rigid while prying it free from the case?

I'm having a problem with port, I think the charging port is loose because sometimes it doesn't charge when I connect it to the charger and when I wiggle it a little it sometimes charge sometimes doesn't so I suspect it's the charging port itself

You know that sony have so many weak point like the lcd, battery charging port that is common fault i always found have to be extra careful or u end up getting the phone more heat problem.

I have a problem with charging my XZ1 phone and I think I have the same problem with my connector as I have to press upwards hard against the case in order to get it to charge. My phone is still under warranty so I think I will have to send it back rather than chance breaking the screen etc! Do you think that I could squeeze the phone hard enough from outside to reconnect the connector without damage to the screen? I expect the connector has become loose after I dropped the phone. BTW I also have the same toolbox sign when my phone switches itself off and I have to reset the time and date. UPDATE I fixed my phone by just squeezing it hard until I heard the click without even having to open the phone up!!! 😂 😂 😂

My Xperia XZ1 G8342 is charging fine. But not connecting to any computer. ( Can't transfer files) I tried resetting the phone, tried different computers with different OSs, and also tried enabling/disabling USB debugging, tried different USB cables. Still no luck. Okay, went on with watching this vid.. After seeing the connector wasnt plugged in in this video, I figured, maybe my repair guy forgot this by accident or it had gotten loose or something, so i pressed the screen where the connector would be and heard a clicking sound. It charges now ;)
