This camera is a Sony masterpiece. Even in 2022 still one of the best in its class. But yea the menu control is horrible, especially once on tripod.

Hi Pro AV - I would like to know which one would be your pick in between these three: Canon xf405 - Sony pxw z105 - Panasonic DVX-200. In your experience which one has the better stabilization, video quality and worth more the money overall based on functionality. I need to buy a camera soon and as this is and invesment I would like to take the right desicion but I have no much time to try to find them and test them myself. I'll be doing a lot of conference recording and interviews, zoom and low light are important factors. Thanks a lot in advance for your opinion!

Quick question about live output options. I assume the 3G SDI output will allow me to broadcast up to 1080p60/1080i60. What about the HDMI output? Does this support live 4K output, and if so - what are the specs for this? Can I use the SDI and HDMI output at the same time - this would prove to very beneficial for a main/backup feed with SDI to vision mixer and HDMI to an NDI encoder.

you mentioned that you can live stream straight from the camera. Can you elaborate on that? Live stream to where? A custom RTMP stream? Facebook? To just a random phone connected to the same network to see a preview of it?

hello sir, i am a Videographer (using Sony z150) since last 6 months, i really love this video camera, but i have a small quires can u make a video with values visible of db,f,White balance, ( no one cannot put the video with values in KZbin , its helps for some guys )how to put approx settings like "F,Db,White balance, Sutter. Reason: some of my friends in Sony 160 put the db,F values like (DB=-3,0,3. F= 1.8,2.x 3.x less than 5.x) in Sony 150 the lighting is too dark as per sony 160. i little confused. can u give any answer.

Excellent image quality! Is it supposed to be as good as the one given by the Z90? Or is there any improvement? Slow motion is OK, but does it have any timelapse option?

It was only after two weeks that I found for Z150 time laps on footage. I thought it was a camera flaw but it's not, the picture quality is great everything is ok. Go to the Sony Z150 type footage, and among other things you will see slow motion and time lapse. Nice.

Great video once again! I own what could be considered as the twin brother to this camcorder the HXR-NX100. The NX100 is identical looking excluding the 4K and slow motion on it. I really do love working on and love the image quality from it. Could you do a side by side comparison with three camera with the same chip sensors the NX100, X70 and the Z150 as a video would love to see this and also you mention the viewfinder, is it identical to the one found in the NX100?

Glad your liking our videos! Thats a good idea, we only have the Z150 in our showroom at the moment though. I'll contact Sony to see if they can send me the NX100 and X70 to do a comparison. Not sure if the viewfinder is identical as I havnt used the NX100 myself. I'd imagine they are similar though Carl

Hi Carl, Lovely video. Very informative. My question from this is, the HD422, is this broadcast ready and can someone use this camera to create television shows with? Also, do you know anyone professionally in our industry who uses this camera? Such as BBC, ITV, etc? Does, anyone use this camera fr films also? The camera is very new and so I haven't heard about it being used anywhere high profile yet. Sony say it is broadcast ready 4K and HD. Although if you are working for specific channels its always worth checking with them that they are happy with your camera choice. Carl

I can't believe Sony have gone backwards. I have 2 Sony AX2000 cameras and having no menu or scrolling wheel on the side with the Z150 is a deal breaker for me. I mostly shoot on a tripod and sometimes above head height and having those controls on the top makes no sense to me. The AX2000 had the choice of side and top. I was seriously thinking of replacing one of my AX2000 cameras with one of these but may now re think. Thanks for making me aware of this.

Z90 is definitely better when it comes to autofocus, and I also like the colors more on the z90. I own both cameras.

I own a Sony NX100. In 2021 is the z150 still a solid option to upgrade to 4k? I usually shoot live bands, nature style videos, parties, and weddings. I figured this Cabrera could be a good option to add as a second camera to my NX100 and a solid 4k upgrade. What do you think?

Depends on your budget and style of shooting. Z150 is first of all an awesome 1080p camera. 4K is only 8bit, 4:2:0 and 25/30fps. There are few good 4K camcorders on the market right now. Sony Z280 and Canon XF705 both do 4Kp60 at 10bit 4:2:2. Of course Sony FX6 will blow both of these out of the park. But it is a full frame so you don't get the zoom range of the camcorder. And with proper zoom lens it might get quite expensive.

The Z280 would be fantastic for sport. Its the highest priced camera of these 3, but the most feature packed. Carl

Great review. Was about to purchase but am a little concerned about the f2.8 start point... It goes pretty quick to F4 and that's not idea for indoor party, concert situations. Or is the gain fairly good at 9,12,15db

As Premiere Pro CS6 predates XAVC it wont support it. You will have to either use the up to date Premiere Pro CC or use a MXF converter to convert the z150 footage into whatever format you like. Carl

Okay, here is my problem with either reviewers or camera manufacturers: $2000 camera. $3000 camera. $4000 camera. Every review ends with some version of, "Who is this for? Run-n-Gun, ENG and Documentary filmmakers." The only conclusion I can arrive at is that no camera under $5000 is good enough for narrative filmmaking. And please, annoying guy that no one likes, please do not come on here with "It's not about the camera, it is about the story." I AGREE, but for some reason we are all trying to produce the best possible footage.
