Sony Zeiss FE35 35mm f2.8 Prime Lens REVIEW

I agree with your comments about the minimum focusing distance. The same applies to the Zeiss 55mm f1.8. My solution is to carry a Nikon 4T, which is a very good quality 2 element close-up lens, and a 49-52mm step-up ring to make it fit. It hardly degrades optical quality at all and gives you a very quick way of adding macro capacity to either of these lenses.

Thank you for helping me find a good light travel combination. Looked at the new Sony RX100 vi but couldn't live with the fiddly size. Combined with my A7R m2 I think this will be light and versatile when traveling. Half the cost too! Result

thanks for good review in real world. I just bought one , it is on its way. combined with a7rii. thats my gift to myself before retirement. planning to do lots of california shooting. I hope to get grand canyon also. On micro/macro. I already got Nikon adaptor and that undiscovered nikon 50mm 2. from 40 years ago. yes know it requires lens change and dirt getting to sensor. but its manageable because both are small. for Macro/micro manual is better anyway. I think everybody calls it macro but nikon calls it micro.

Nice gift to yourself! The 35 is actually quite versatile. And when you want to go ultra wide, you can always shoot a panorama (either in camera or stitched together in post).

Sharpness is about equal. FE35 has better color, and is smaller. 28mm is brighter at f2, works with adapters, and very lightweight itself. Overall I think the 28mm is more versatile than the FE35.

I use mine on an A6000 or A6600. This makes it a 52,5mm standard lens.

Having tough time choosing between 35 f2.8 and 28mm f2

It's a tough call. I think the Zeiss offers better glass & coatings with (slightly) better color, but the 28 is faster and it's plenty sharp too. The 35 has a smaller profile but the 28 is very lightweight too.

I prefer the bokeh of the 28, the color of the 35. I guess if I had to keep only one, I'd probably keep the Zeiss. But these two lenses are so close, it boils down to which focal length you prefer.
