One more practical tip is map C1 button (the one on top next to rec) to USB streaming. Every time when you open the camera, press C1 button and you are in streaming mode. Otherwise you will have to go into the menu every time. For someone who just buy is for just streaming. I suggest 16mm Sigma 1.4 cost only 450$.

A test on how long the camera will stream until overheating protection comes up and how long it can go with the setting on high (in a warm room) would have been really good.

Sean I have been a podcaster for 8 years and just got this camera. This was super helpful. What I noticed is that when I do the live stream (I use Riverside) there is no way to get the video into 1080. The live stream recording is in 720. I am seeing those comments other places online. This seems ridiculously that a camera like this can't stream in 1080 or higher quality. Do you have any comments on that? I have tried to figure out if it is Riverside or the camera and it's looking like the camera is the issue

Hey Ryan, thanks for reaching out. I hate to say it, but I think you’re stuck at 720p on this one. There might be some workarounds with hdmi + capture cards, but that process isn’t as smooth as connecting a usb-c, in my opinion. It’s probably not what you want to hear, but I’d suggest the zv-e10 II (might have overheating issues around 1-hour of live streaming) or the FX30 (no overheating issues)

You are right, not what I wanted to hear, and you are just the messenger ;-) For how many people live stream KZbin and Podcasts, getting a good quality picture, and making it look like your looking at the camera while looking at your screen, is about as impossible as ever. We're all concerned about AI and we can't get good video while looking at the screen hahaha. If I wanted to live stream for my podcast the highest quality - while making it easy - do you think the FX30 is the way to go? you are awesome for responding BTW - you're saving me hours of dead end research online!!!

@@ryantansom 11mm might be the way to go there then. I always like the flex of a zoom, but if you feel good about the placement of the camera and the focal length, then a prime might be the way to go. If only my apartment smelled like rich mahogany...and leather-bound books

Hey Alex, glad you like the videos. I don’t currently, but it should work well for that. In regards to optimizing overhead shots, a lot of it comes down to lighting and focus for me. I typically light in a way where there isn’t much glare and in regards to focus I usually run manual focus for that

Damn sorry to hear that. I mean the off-brand ones are fine and relatively inexpensive. I wouldn't suggest using an off-brand one for the long-term but until the Sony one is available I'd probably pick one up.

Great video. I want to livestream in 4K with my A7SIII connected to my M1 Max MacBook Pro. Do you have to use a dummy battery even for shorter pieces to prevent the camera shutting off and if so what one can you recommend that won’t fry the circuit board as annoyingly there does not seem to be a Sony version for this camera

Have not tried it yet as I’m waiting for a capture card to arrive. My concern is that some of the third party dummy batteries out there have reviews saying they fried the camera so want to find a reliable brand as the A7SIII is not a cheap camera!!

Sean, quick question...I don't know why, but when I livestream from iPhone I never look as good on it as I do in real life. I know that sounds funny - LOL! Does the ZVE10 livestream with the soft skin filter? Also can I livestream direct to KZbin without going through Zoom or OBS? I just want make this as simple as possible for myself. Thanks!

Whats up - no, not funny at all. I GET IT. In short, yes, you can have all 3 intensities of the soft skin filters on during live streaming. In regards of directly to YT live, I'm not sure as I haven't done a live on YT yet, but I don't see why not? The ZV E10 with a proper USB-C connected to your comp should provide a quick selection of the camera as the webcam regardless of the streaming platform.

I did as per your instructions but my Sony immediately switches to USB mass storage when I connect to the Windows PC. Thus, not recognized as a camera by the PC.

My camera was not being recognized either originally until I put it into a different USB port. I suggest trying all your USB ports to see which one works.

My question is if I run my camera through my iMac, do I need a larger mic for it since both my Rødecaster Pro 2 and my Elgato Stream Deck + are also plugged into my iMac as well, or would the camera mic be fine as it is? Hey Sean great job! I just got my m2 max macbook pro and zv e10 for better content creation as well as zoom calls. I’ve heard that the video quality is bad when you actually use it via usb c cable only and it’s much better when you you it with elgado cam link. Just asking if it’s right or not :) Also I’m much more interested in your mic setup to be exactly have the same deep voice like in this video. Hope to see your videos about it as well! Because whenever I see a video with great sound I keep watching even if the video quality not that great but if I see something good looking but bad voice then I stop watching. People mostly watch /listen the videos when they are on the road, gym, or laying down in my niche so sound will be more important for me. I tested your video’s sound on my airpods pro 2, airpods max, in my car and pc… it sounds great everywhere.
