What I love about the zv1 is the size. Super compact and can fit in your pockets without worrying about lenses. When I heard about this, I didn’t expect it to have interchangeable lens option. I’m a sucker for new tech and gear and I hate to say it buuuuut, the release excites me because that means the zv1 should go down in price even more now and I can finally get one lol Great review as always!

I am one of those who watches because Jason Vong videos are good and insightful videos. In this case I appreciate you “getting it” about this camera. Too many commentators review a camera like this through a videographer’s perspective instead of the content creators (who the camera is aimed at) needs. As an experienced videographer I might find find some things lacking in this camera, but content creators are generally young, and experienced with social media and smart phones. For them they find it difficult to comprehend buying a camera that costs as much, or more than their smartphone, but at this price point, they are likely to like the optical zoom of the ZV-1 or the interchangeable lenses of the ZV-E10 attractive. For them it is likely to be a creative extension of their phone rather than a replacement. Sony has correctly identified this price point as the sweet spot for bringing in these young new camera buyers. These people will like the face smoothing and will prefer it to the lack of IBIS caused by the needed cost cutting. I think Sony will benefit long term by going after this smartphone demographic, and will do well.

Great video! ZV-E10 is not bad but it is a specialized camera. However I’m considering this as the main video camera. But if you are going to take photos as well, i think the a6xxx better for hybrid. - The kit lens needs an overdue update. Anyway I’m still waiting for a pro-body aps-c Sony 🧐

Sony's reluctance to put 4k 60 in any of their bodies (with the exception of the a7siii and fx3) is annoying AF. Seriously get on with it, how hard can it be. I dont need 4k 120 or 8k, I just need a decently priced camera that can do 4k 60! The GH5 has been around for half a decade or more and is capable of this and you can pick one up used for like 1200$. I just dont understand what sony is thinking, well, ever to be honest.

This is absolutely rival for Sony a6400 , almost same specs, but ZV-E10 has output audio control, but i think it is not weather sealed, which Sony a6400 has, USB-C in ZV-E10 is good point, if you're a6400 user, dont be regret, because ZV-E10 still dont have IBIS lol

I just wish they would give us a new sensor. This is the exact same sensor from the a6300 from 5 years ago. Most of it's competition has better overall image quality now. Glad they finally gave us a flip screen on an APSC camera though. Here's to hoping they give us a more competitive APSC sensor sooner rather than later.

An easy thing to do is just shoot in Aperture Priority and get your F stop to the widest possible for background blur. And for "product showcase" set a toggle for one of your custom buttons. It's possible to do the same things but may take a couple more button clicks 😅

I like the top down shot next to ZV-1. I still like ZV-1 more than this ZV-E10, but it's not a bad choice for the price! And I am going to assume that it takes good photo also. Since I got my ZV-1, I rarely pick up my rx100v anymore. ZV-1 is good enough for everyday photo. It is now my EDC camera.

Sony should eventually release the active stabilisation option for their a6100, a6400 and a6600. That's about the only thing that's useful for this camera compared to the new a6x00 series.

@@MonicaHolly143 It definitely has some useful features (USB-C, audio monitoring input, the focus control, etc.) - cool camera! If I didn't already have an a6400, I would be in the market. But, as an a6400 owner with a few years of experience and a lot of gear, that IBIS is the only piece that I'm really missing to make my user experience better. So, no IBIS = No upgrade! :)

@@ColinBenjamin Sony's ibis isn't that good to begin with, you being an a6400 user missing out on ibis isn't really a big deal, if you want to do some serious video work it's not like you can rely on ibis anyway, you'll have to use a gimbal so not having an ibis doesn't make that much of a difference

Nice video Jason but I just can’t get on board with this camera. I bought a ZV1 and found the lcd useless outside in 4K as the bright mode wouldn’t work. So many new Sony cameras with lcd only. I upgraded to A7C and love it. Even the range finder is a major upgrade.

Thank you so much for that video! I personally have a Sony Alpha6000 which I currently use with Sony 1.8 35mm. I love it for pictures though but I was thinking about upgrading a camera, especially for videos because I do a lot of reels / tiktoks and thinking about starting a youtube channel - the sony ALpha6000 served me well but I think for videos it´s not a great camera even with a Sony OSS lense. So I´m considering between the ZV1 and ZVE10 / ZV1 F. I think compactwise I would say the ZV1 is currently the best option (because for the ZVE10 I´d have to buy other lenses). What are your thoughts on that?

The image can be post stabilized, with Catalyst giving better performance (I keep asking, but no-one has answered whether this still works with 'dumb' prime lenses). The multi-shoe would be more useful with Sony BT mic which is more economical...

thing is that fact that it doesnt have inbody image stabilization is a bummer . But i guess for its price it offers more than enough. Tbh out of the low budget cameras like the canon m50 or sony a6500 i see the sony zv e10 as the best option. However personally i would get the a6500 (2016 camera) just for the inbody image stabilisation. Other than that great video! Im curious to see how well this camera will do in the market and if people will find better cameras than this one for its price

I'd stick with the Samyang 18mm. The Tamrons are too heavy and will make the camera front-heavy.
