I’m a true blue Uconn Women’s Basketball fan, but after watching this game, I’ll be keeping track and watching every Texas game. That was an awesome hard fought game and both teams are so exciting to watch! Congrats to Texas on giving your best and not giving up. And Vic Schaefer is such a great classy coach! What team are you playing next?👍👏

Class act after a tough loss. It’s great to see these top level teams scheduling top level competition early in the season to build their teams’ competitiveness faster. Playing lots of puff games lulls your team into a false sense of security and makes them lazy. This game will make both of these teams much better much faster! Kudos to the coaches for not settling for padding their records!!! And congrats to both teams for a hard fought and great game! You can see the strengths of both teams. They’ll both be lead competitors for the national championship come spring!!!!!

I like this coach. Like his attitude. Playing UConn at home is tough but no tears, no whining, no excuses...his team cut the lead from 17 to 7 in the last 4 minutes. Texas has big talent.

Schaefer is one heck of a basketball coach! He may be one of the top two in the women's college game today. His recognition that the mid-range game is basically a lost art proves his knowledge of the game. Of course, I love UCONN and Geno. Go Huskies!

It's easy to get lost in the minutia: we missed that layup, that midrange didn't fall, that was a stupid foul and so forth. But that really was a helluva game, especially considering it was the second of the season. Geno said it in his interview: we're not in mid-season form. And Texas wasn't either. It's easy to see, though, what that form will be like. They really played neck and neck with Uconn, except in the paint and fast breaks. It was a telling point he made: I don't remember when I had a team shoot so well and lose the game. That was a class act he delivered, especially his comments about Azzi. But really, about everyone. He was highly complimentary to all three players he had with him and he mentioned several others by name and said they played well too. I too though Taylor Jones played a terrific game, right up to the point Geno dumped 5 players on her. Why he didn't put her back in sooner I don't think I'll ever understand. The play-by-play had the right of it, maybe; perhaps she was on a minutes restriction. I'm a Uconn fan, in case that isn't clear. But I confidently predict we'll see Texas again, in the NCAA tourney. That's shaping up to be an Elite 8 team, maybe a Final Four. They'd have beaten any other team in the league with that game, except maybe Stanford and South Carolina. Well done, Texas.

"They'd have beaten any other team in the league with that game, except maybe Stanford and South Carolina. Well done, Texas." I wish they could hear this. So true...💯

@@alanlee3236 It's hard to see it though the haze of defeat. But you know what? Texas can be proud of that loss, as proud as anyone can be of a loss. They fought as hard as anyone can, and they never, ever, ever, never gave up. They were fighting for points up until the last 20 seconds. That says a lot about whom and what they are. Texas seemed to have a problem with their bigs. I don't know why, but I expected their length to try us more and it didn't, except for Taylor Jones (who is, as all know, very big.) I only saw her get beat one time, when she just wasn't paying attention and Edwards slipped in a layup. She lost some that were 50-50, which you would expect, but you can't say she didn't play her best game at this point of the season. Mwenentanda also played a fabulous game for a frosh. She's a very big guard and she's going to light the world on fire with a little experience. But the points in the paint statistic, and the rebounding... I dunno. Points in the paint is something you'd expect Texas to win, and rebounds, given their length. And they just didn't. Credit where it is due, maybe it was Uconn. They're hard to play when they're firing on all cylinders. And who knows? Perhaps someone on the team will read it and share. We can hope, anyway. Not that my comment is anything special, anyone could have said the same and anyone honest would have. But perhaps you're right: that's something they need to hear.

Vic is a class act. His players could learn some more of that. They had a lot to say post game on instagram 🙄

I'm a uconn fan and I can definitely see Texas being the most dangerous teams come March madness. GoodLuck on the season. Go longhorns

What a great compliment for Azzi, "...she's open when she's not." Additionally and regarding this coaches comment about these two teams meeting again in a month, they will have their better point guard back, we will not. Should it line up that we have to play Texas again in the NCAA tournament, they will be very hungry.
@alanlee32362 жыл бұрын
Like @Jeff Joy said these two teams will learn so much from this game that will matter in March. Games like this are hard when you're on the road against a really tough opponent, but some how you're right there at the end only to lose. Very entertaining game. Toughness on both sides of the ball. No Sonia Morris and this was a blowout. I thought Gonzales did a great job, turnovers aside (Azzi had 5 herself). Taylor Jones is an amazing pickup for a team that lost Lauren Ebo. Shay Holle was good late; wish she could have seen more time. Nwenentanda has greatness written all over her (watch out Big 12), and of course Aaliyah Moore competed with a lot of heart. I'd like to see her get more controlled so she can avoid the foul trouble and really impact the game, but love her competitive spirit. If you like UConn, you should love this team because I think they're cut from the same cloth. Can't wait to see what they take from this game.

No Sonia Morris and it's a blowout? Lol the Huskies best player had to get a career high just to beat the longhorns, what are you talking about?

One more thing about Nwenentanda: look at her during the interview. She's watching her coach like a hawk and you can see her digesting everything. I know Morris and Gonzales hear him too, but it seems obvious the loss is too much for them to bear. It's November and you just played the UConn huskies on their home floor and competed well. It doesn't show in the standings but you get HUGE points for that; tournament committee points because the rest of the top teams are playing cupcake schedules to fool their players into thinking they're better than they are. Texas should know exactly where they are as a team and what they have to focus on. Learn from this. Don't let the focus on losing blur all the good that happened. This team is going to be in the final four if they build on what we saw last night. Easy.

The Texas player looked sick especially Morris. Great win for Uconn.

#Go UConn. I hate/love playing against Vic because he's just one of the very best and like Geno, his teams reflect his approach to the game. We took this one, but he will hold onto it and look for his 'revenge' when ever that may be (like he has done in the past). A true competitor. That being said.. we got the dub ! bleed blue

Good game overall, but......Texas can have Rory next time if UCONN can have Paige and Ice. You know, the best player in the nation and a stud frosh.

He’s 100% on point about Azzi! You have to play her close but when you do she can take you off the dribble. That is hard to defend! She worked on her midrange game and it show!
