Informative video, thanks. I'll try doing this again with your exact settings, but when I tried it a couple months ago with the same equipment, I could not get exposures longer than 30secs. I saw posts from other Sony A7iv owners saying the same thing. The ASIAir+ works great with my Sony a6400 though.

So happy I found this video. What USB cable were you using the USB 3 or 2 to hook up the camera to the ASIAir? I note there are two different USB options on the ASIAir. Thank you.

thanks for the video, can you do the polar alignment only with the A7iv on the asiair ?

Ken, the gentleman I helped set this up for when using this camera has not been able to do polar alignment with just the camera and a lens. I think it may be an issue with way too many stars and the plate solving software ZWO is using can't handle solving at a smaller focal ratio and full frame camera. Ken moved to the asi2600mm and a RedCat71 and has not had any problems since. He was also able to plate solve with the Sony and RedCat71.

Related question, what kind of "shutter release cable" did you use? You went over that part pretty fast. I assume you plug it into the "DSLR" hole in the AAP. I will need to purchase such a cable and want to make sure I get the right one.

Just a standard shutter cable is all nothing special. As long as it works with the Sony you should be good. However make sure you are using a high quality USB cable details again are on the website. joeytroy.com/sony-a7-iv-asiair/

Have you ever worked on supporting the qhyccd camera on the Asiair Plus app?

I have, it will not work. The problem is on the ASIAIR Linux OS, ZWO is running a dameon file that has embedded drivers. More details on the work is on CN www.cloudynights.com/topic/755167-development-asi-air-pro-driver-injection/ I have gotten Open Astro to support all the cameras but it's not the best interface compared to the ASIAIR. It was the last update ZWO released, and spending time messing with the app. I believe a new update is coming soon as well as they are beta testing currently.

Have you helped anyone figure out how to best image the April total eclipse with a Sony camera body, an ASIair and an AM5 or 3?

I have not but if you are going to record the session in video I would recommend doing 20-25 minute runs on a large drive like 4TB. When I did last year's eclipse I had 2x2TB and ended up corrupting my video as I ran it for 2 hours and then recorded the second half at an hour which was fine. Sadly I lost the main video due to running it too long and it didn't save properly at the end. I was also using the ASI2600MM on the RedCat51 with a solar filter. If you are just taking pictures you should be would be fine.

Hey mate An Aussie here with the Sony A7ii,i. I have read that the Asiair can save the raw files to the sd card on the camera but can't seem to find that setting. Have you got that to work?
