Brian said "Freddie said 'I can't do anymore today, I'll come back and finish it later.' And he never did." Freddie's last recorded word was "Love." Brian did a beautiful job on the last verse. Roger or Brian once said that the saddest part was that he died with music still in him. Broke my heart. I can't imagine what these last few songs were doing to the other three.

After you hear the vocal improvisation Freddie did at Wembley it transitions into every song that Queen ever recorded but rapidly sped up then Freddie singing Going Back. I remember hearing Freddie had passed away. For me, it hit me like lightning. He had only told the world of his diagnosis the day before. I cried off & on for who knows how long . So much of Queen’s music was & still is like an anthem. At our local football games they still play “We Will Rock You”, “Another One Bites the Dust” & “We Are The Champions.” If it isn’t over the loud speaker or the marching band playing one of them. I still cry every time I hear this song. At the time he passed away HIV/AIDS was so new, at least it was in the small town I grew up in. Heart breaking that we lost him so soon but how grateful we should be for what he left us with, his heart and soul in his music. What a beautiful gift.

In October’92 I lost my best friend, in October ‘93 another one, in August’94 another. All to AIDS. I helped care for the last 2 and was with them when they died. People who weren’t there when AIDS took so many shining souls from this world can’t understand how horrible it is to watch friends in the prime of their lives waste away and die.
