i am 14, a violinist of 12 years, been listening to saint-saëns and sarasate for YEARS, so so used to listening to a change of tones all in one piece, and i still listened to this with awe and surprise despite knowing the whole passage by heart. that's just how brilliant this performance was.

seems like she's ruling over the bow,just flawless. She knows when to sing like a bird and when to be strong. No doubt that she has talent.

@@oren682 I think he didn't mean that as a criticism against the performers, but as a criticism against the comment... SooBeen Lee is one of my favourite violinists and this was damn good. It wasn't "perfect" and that isn't a requirement, that's a view coming from all those pesky competitions. We want to hear human beings, not playing robots, right? And the "impeccable" pianist screwed up at least twice, but she saved it. And it's OK, it didn't ruin the piece, and I am sure SooBeen gave her a teasing comment afterwards backstage, and they both had a good laugh. I am always impressed when professionals manage to handle the mistakes so the vast majority of the audience won't have an idea of what just happened.. Prokofiev 2 a few years ago, Sayaka Shoji soloist, 3rd movement in an optimistic tempo and soloist and orchestra lost synch towards the end - and they saved it. I was in the audience and remember the icy feeling "nooooo' and the next second they were on track again. Still can't fathom how they made it.

still out here absolutely destroying anyone's hope of even picking up a violin.
@nelsoncheng46384 жыл бұрын
Connor Jones. Why should people be discouraged to pick up the violin? This is a defeating attitude. If Miss SooBeen Lee had your attitude, would you be watching her play like this? Below I describe a much better attitude, based on the Bible, Matthew 25:14-30. If you do something with the ability that God has given to you the best you can, for God's glory, then you will never feel defeated. Why? This is because you are doing something with what YOU have been given, not caring about the guy (or girl, like Miss SooBeen Lee) next to you. HeShe may have been given more or less ability than you, but you don't care about that. And since you are not trying to beat someone else, you will never feel defeated, and never feel you want to burn your instrument, or to start learning to play it. But if you do burn your instrument, that's even worse than being beaten by someone else, because now you have altogether stopped altogether being a steward of what God has entrusted to you, having nothing to show for, like the last servant in the parable of the talents. The secret to this Biblical attitude is to do something for God's glory, not your own glory. People who say "Let's burn or throw away our instruments now" are not seeking God's glory. They're seeking their own glory, and living in their own pride of life. And when they can't get that glory, they get upset. But a person seeking God's glory will not want to throw their instruments away, even if someone else is better, since he understands that even though God gives some more ability and others less, it is what YOU do with what YOU have been given, NOT what someone else has been given, that He is interested in. The goal is to be faithful with what YOU have been given.

Great talent. My only criticism is in the sound of the instrument she is playing. I find that the g string on this instrument does not match the clarity or the richness of the upper register.
@ineedit167 жыл бұрын
Morris Neiberg I do think g string is kind of raw compared to upper strings. But, when i checked all her recent videos, i think its just this piece that makes it sound different. I used to intrepret this piece as two voices of chirping-like soft melody and strong g string sound like an answer. Anyway, I definitely believe she can control it haha.
