I could watch old 70's Sooner footage all day. Went to my first game in 1970, saw every home game from 70-79 and saw a handful in other Big 8 stadiums. Great times.

As a Husker fan, I was devastated after that loss. They had some great teams back then, and even though we often came out on the short end in our games with OU, I truly miss that rivalry.

I was at this game - in a band uniform. With typical Nebraska hospitality they put us in folding chairs behind the team on the sidelines rather than in the stands. We had to stand on our chairs to see the game. The end made it all worthwhile. The coldest I've ever been in my life.

NCAA rules change in '84 (Permitting o-line to "hold", or extend thier arms) all but rendered the Triple Option extinct. I miss the Triple Option; it STILL works just fine, but why fight an uphill battle when the rules favor passing?

Sorry pard...but Sooner Magic was alive and well when this game started. Sooner Magic was born in 1975 when Joe Washington went 75 yards in the closing moments and scored on a 2pt play to beat Missouri 28-27. Sooner Magic would have never been had it not been for Little Joe Washington. Joe Washington was Sooner Magic.
@wildmercuryfilms6 жыл бұрын
Dave M Sorry to break this to you, big guy, but Sooner Magic was alive & kickin’ well before little Joe Washington & his Mizzou score. Back in 1907, Oklahoma was playing a grudge match against the Davenport Iowa Chiropractic School at The Old Ballfield and losing 3-Zip late in the contest when halfback Ebenezer Caniglio scampered over left end for the deciding score. Oh What A Match. The next day, in the Daily Oklahoman, the headline read: “Sooner Magic is born with The Coniglio Jump.” ( Evidently he hopped over a defender to score.)
@soonerlegendspodcast Жыл бұрын
Sooner magic can also be said in 1950 when Claude Arnold drove the team from Oklahomas 30 yard in the final 2 and a half minutes and the score was made by Leon Heath. But it was Claude Arnold's right arm that got them close for Leon to punch it in. Before that drive OU scored but Jim Weatherall missed the extra point that would've tied the game. We played that game against A&M and OU would be crowned their first national championship that year

Its a shame that our play calling now is so predictable. We really on our talent speed and power which is excellent, but too much is put on the players and not enough on the coaches and play callers. We showed some of it at the end of the OSU game, but we could have blown them out if we had just played like that the entire game vice just 5 minutes of it. I heard Kevin Wilson may be going to Indiana. It will be interesting to see how they do. I'm optimistic about the possibilities for OU.
