Arguably the best two sport athlete. never got a chance to see him at his full potential. running 4.13 40 at 220- 230lbs thats unimaginably impressive. the strength, conditioning and speed he was blessed with you cant compare that lol

Bo against this Alabama had a pt to prove. Alabama recruited him out of high school. They said ‘you won’t play as a freshman. We don’t let freshmen play much less start.’ So he went instead to his second choice auburn who had told him ‘if you win the spot you play, and yes you can start if good enough’

I was 9 during this game. This was the first Iron Bowl after Bear Bryant died. The first half was sunny and breezy. The rain came in the second half. And Keith Jacksons first words of the start of the fourth quarter, was "we have a tornado warning". And Bo kept running. He could have run touchdowns in a hurricane on that day. Bama's defense got tired and got run over by #34.

Not only that, it was a long, taped interview that they could have played before the game or during halftime. It was too long to play during the game. I was at this Iron Bowl, sitting in the end zone behind Auburn's offense. I could see how our defense was overpursuing every time Bo got the ball. At 2:03, I was silently praying to Bo "Don't turn to the right, don't turn to the right." And then he turned to the right. "Uh-oh," I said out loud and he was GONE. That dude was not just fast, he was cartoon fast

I hated Bo in 1983 as I’m a life long Tide fan. But I came to like him later. He was a one in a million athlete. Probably 230 lbs and could outrun defensive backs. I saw him play baseball against University Of South Alabama(which I later graduated from)when I was probably a senior in high school. He looked different(bigger)in his baseball uniform than the other players. He hit a line drive to the shortstop which would’ve been a routine throw out to first. He almost beat that throw to first. He quieted the opposing crowd down after watching his astonishing speed running to first.

Legion Field, the wishbone and Alabama actually playing a good OOC schedule. Things that made college football what it is and things we will never see again.

To set the record straight Alabama was NEVER the visiting team in Bham. I’m an old man born in the 50s and Bham has always been a Bama city no matter what anyone says. I lived there for over 40 years. Even if the tickets were split Bama fans would end up with at least 60% of the tickets. Auburn understood this and that’s why they fought so hard to get home games on campus. Even by the late 80s it was obvious Bham as a city was in decline and Legion field would never get the upgrades she needed to stay a gem in the south. By the 90s it was just unsafe to travel down there to see a game. Breaks my heart in the good ole days we would park at Birmingham Southern and tailgate then walk over to the game. Auburn used to play their home Tennessee games there as well. First game I ever saw was AU v Tn in Legion field.

The only other RB that IMO could rival Bo was Chuck Muncie from Cal. At ^6'3" and 230 pounds he had incredible speed and power. Take a lot at some of the videos of him and you will agree he was something special. Unfortunately Chuck had a serious substance abuse problem and never reached his full potential in the NFL.

I was there. Probably 6 inches of rain fell in the 2nd half. Tornadoes all around the stadium.

He was Recruited by Alabama but they told him he would have to wait a year or 2 and he would get his chance to play. Auburn promised him he would START from day 1 ! Rhe Alabama Head Coach and Staff that RECRUITED Bo Jackson should have ALL bee FIRED that Day !!! Smh.... Talk about Stupid is as Stupid does. Geez...

There were some moments here when Bo turns it on and the video seems almost edited with Bo “levitating,” ahead of his pursuers. Like Ali’s phantom punch!

His speed was unreal. Probably the fastest to ever play the game.

In college and the pros, every single time I saw Bo get the ball, I thought he had a better than 50/50 shot at taking it to the house.

I don't know if it's in the television imagery as an illusion, but the players at the college level seemed so much BIGGER back in those days.😉😉😊
