SOOO MANY FISH!! - First Fish Auction

My first ever fish club auction was a huge success! Please join me on an incredible fish filled day. Thank you to the Tampa Bay Aquarium Society and each of the individuals who worked hard for many many hours before, during, and after the event!! Setup and breakdown, runners, auctioneers, accounting, coordinating the space and food. These are just some of the behind the scenes tasks done for FREE by the volunteers. Without them, the auction would not be possible. Also thank to everyone who raised fish to share with fellow hobbyists and those organizations such as Segrest Farms who donated fish.
It was great meeting new fish friends and saying hello to familiar faces. This took place Saturday November 16th, 2019. I hope to be at the 2020 Auction and if you're in the area, I hope to see you there!

Sadly given all the concerns and recommendations for social distancing, our auction has been postponed until further notice. Its smaller than this one but always has some cool stuff. Hopefully the craziness dies down a little and they figure out a good solution so we can commence having fishy fun!!

stuff like this is really one of the only reasons I sometimes envy people who live in or close to a city...I live hours away from a major area like this where these kids of clubs and events happen. I'd be in real trouble if I was close enough to go, lol!

I have a question, I have Albino Long Fin Pleco babys and I want to sell off to the Lps. Can you tell me a ballpark price to expect to get? They are about 1 1/2” Thank you.

Hey there! I’m usually between 1/3 and 1/2 and what they will be selling for retail. If they don’t currently sell the fish I would come prepared with a suggested retail price for them and your going rate. I always try to start a relationship off on a good foot but also be professional so you get what your entitled too. 1.5” should be a good size they will take. Discuss whether you want cash or store credit upfront and make sure you have any required licenses.

The plant auction back in early January was also a great event. Saw a good variety of really healthy plants and a lot at great prices. Have quite a few growing out in an outdoor "pond" right now, starting to propagate them. I would love to get some Bluefin Killis and Golden Top-minnows tank raised and acclimated to bring in for the auction this coming year.

Sigh, I wish we still had a fish club here in Birmingham. Back before the days of cell phones, PC's and even personal pagers we had a real good aquarium society here. I didn’t even think about that, yeah there were no dry goods - only fish shrimp and plants really. It took all day so I doubt they have time to even do dry goods lol
