A dark wool blanket is a great way to cover your items in the backseat or cargo area. Can't see what's in there, kinda looks like the floor or empty seats, especially in combination with tinted windows. In addition, it acts as a great piece of survival gear and in my truck, it keeps the road dust and sunlight off everything.

nah, even laying stuff flat you can tell something is underneath it's actually less effective than a cargo cover since you have to guess if something is under the cover, but with blanket's and linen objects you really don't..it's just a gamble if it's worth breaking into the vehicle for
@SurvivalTheory

With my tinted windows and dark wool blanket, all you see is darkness, even during the day....so you can't tell if something is underneath. You can't even see the blanket. Basically, it looks empty. Its very effective.

Very smart to keep insurance and registration in the visor, especially when carrying. If you get pulled over it’s way better than fumbling in a console or glove box, ESPECIALLY if you are identified as a CWP holder.

Great set up!!!👍.. I am on same plane as you... Better be prepared then wish to be when happens. .. my first wake up call to that was when war in Bosnia overnight started, lost most of my family members due not being prepared .. many years later I was proud to become US citizens and said to me no worries here... well I was wrong..lived in NY= 9/11 happened.. moved to Florida and hurricane Charlie happened.. No more. I said to myself.. I'M READY NOW .. I wish we could spend rest of our lives in peace and harmony but don't bet on it.. be prepared (within reasons) for You, your Family and our country.. God Bless

I realize I’m late to the party but one thing I though of in relation to keeping bags in your vehicle is to purchase bags that match the color of your vehicles upholstery. This may help camouflage your bags from someone looking in. Just a thought

That was my thought exactly. I bought a black EDC bag that fits under my back seat in the truck. With my tinted windows you can see the side of it at all. Plus I put a pistol lock loop through the grab handle and lock it to my seat.

Well done organization. I've begun a more emergency-prepared project with my car starting with flashlights and came up with all sorts of 3D printed mounts to keep them (all 8) secured as not to become ballistic in the event of a crash or rollover, but equally importantly they're all not taking up any of the usable space in the vehicle so I still got all my storage spaces and such. I think most preppers don't realize any unsecured objects in the event of a wreck can become quite dangerous to the occupants inside. There are reports of even cell phones cracking skulls once they go flying around the inside of a vehicle in a crash.

One thing I've found with SD cards is that with car cameras it is important to use a card that is made for video. The cheaper cards will literally burn out. The video files wear out the write sectors of the medium and the camera cannot tell there is an error on the card.

john panoulias Ironic coming from Sootch considering he has multiple videos where he gleefully describes his racism and anger issues. Like when some guy parked too close to him in the parking lot so Sootch decided to take it upon himself to try and chase him down with his vehicle. I was just going to suggest locking the glove box and only keeping a gun in there. He mentioned carrying one on him, so he has that in case he needs it quickly. The concept of "I won't be heartbroken if my truck gets broken into and I lose this" is not taking into consideration 1. The gun is now in the possession of a criminal 2. If that gun is used to hurt or kill someone and then gets left at the scene of the crime, you are now liable because your fingerprints are on it. Even if you report it stolen, you're a person of interest in the best-case scenario or the only suspect in the worst-case scenario. Preparedness and responsibility go hand-in-hand.

Being prepared is no joke. A few years back, sometime between 2018 and 2020, a coworker of mine who is originally from Seattle was telling us about violent protests going on in the city and how her having a firearm on her kept her and her kids safe. She said people were breaking into cars and some guys set their sights on her and she put her .357 on the dash and they backed off. I know that could be considered brandishing but at the time that act of aggression saved her and those guys a lot of trouble. Remember, when seconds count police are minutes away

You ever get in a serious accident, and all of that stuff on the sun visor is going to go flying around the cabin like shrapnel. And it's going to be right next to your head. A lot of people don't realize how loose (or semi-secure) items become missiles on impact. Yes, even a large vehicle like this.

A couple takeaways from this video. First and foremost thanks for mentioning keeping your head cool when you're carrying. I once watched a fellow mouth off to the wrong person. He didn't know that she was a second degree black belt until she broke his nose with front snap kick. It was hysterical until he look like he was going to bleed to death. Second of all I think it's smart to have two trauma kits. One is in your go bag and that's smart in case you have to abandon your vehicle in a hurry. Also what if you have to help someone else. Don't want to use all your supplies on them and have nothing for yourself. Lastly, I noticed all the flashlights. This is definitely smart. Always have more than one and in multiple places. If you lose your flashlight in the dark you need another flashlight to find it. Yes I learned that lesson the hard way. Also remember to rotate out that ammunition if it's left in extreme temperatures. The batteries too. Peace

As a motorcycle rider that carries while I ride, the road rage part resonated with me. Earlier today even, some lady seemed to miss all the “lane ends” signs and wound up nearly putting her back wheels on my neck. I was paying attention so I was ready for her, but wasn’t expecting her to cut back in front of me so fast. Anyways, I avoided her and let her gain some distance on me while I cooled off. Here in California if you don’t have a CCW it’s illegal to keep an unloaded handgun inside a locked pistol safe in your trunk “just in case” you need it. From the days in my work truck, which sometimes meant being out in the boonies, my rule was this truck does not stop. To this end things to keep the truck going were kept in the truck. First thing was a can of gas. At least a 1 or 2 gallon can but if there was room a 5 gallon can. Tire patches and a can of inflate a flat. Small hand tools to work on vehicle as needed as well as a simple, inexpensive volt/ohm meter. A jump start battery, a tow strap if I could get someone to pull me out ( used it to help others as well, comes in real useful). Extra road flares, more than I thought I would need and the long burning type. Good for safety if you are working on vehicle on the side of the road or for making myself visible, signaling. Extra batteries because I may use them to fix truck). I had a company truck and the brake pads for that model often failed and ground out the rotor. Carried extra pads and changed them on the side of the road several times. In the old days I carried an extra fan belt which today would be a serpentine belt. I also kept drinks and food, blanket and extra dry cloths. But if I could keep the truck going then those supplies for being stranded may not be needed.

You should store that trauma kit in a more obvious place in case someone less familiar with your setup needs to find it. To the layman, it's practically in a secret compartment.
@davidlouis1068

CircaSriYak what difference does it make ? a 'layman' wont know how to use it anyway nor should anyone be in your vehicle. if your conscious, you could just tell them where it is i guess...

If for some reason you have to stay put (while applying pressure for a trauma victim let's say), and ask someone else to go get your IFAK for you, life will be made a lot easier if it's easily found. There would be nothing more annoying or potentially deadly than someone coming back saying "Uhh, where is it again?"

Just thinking, what if you had a serious car accident. Those car EDC items attached to your driver side sun visor could come loose and hit you the driver if the head/face causing injury.. I would suggest putting the Zulu Tactical molle visor panel on the passenger side sun visor. Just a suggestion.

I'm a little late on this, but I'd like to add to the list if you don't mind, due to some recent personal experience. A High-Lift Jack. Used vertically or horizontally to get out of a mud hole. A come-a-long to get out of a mud hole. A long tow strap to extend the Come-a-Long reach to a tree. A large metal spike to drive into the ground if there are no trees, to pull yourself out of a mud hole. An axe and a Silky Big Boy to cut a tree that might have fallen across the road after you got in, and you are on the way out. Some 2X4 and cords to tie to your tires, to help you claw out of a mudhole. Just saying. Perhaps there are more truck rescue items that can be added to that. Chains, etc.

It’s an H3. It’s based on a Trailblazer platform, and like most GM vehicles, it’ll fall apart and the interior is low quality. It’s definitely not up to the “Hummer” name. Should’ve kept the Toyota. I’d think a guy that’s packed out for Fallujah would research vehicles. Unless he put empirical evidence aside because this had a good deal or he has a preference for it.

Clever way of showing off the new ride. Well done. Out here only one thing concerns us and that's water. Always have backup water for your backup water. Water filtration doesn't do much good because there isn't any water available in the desert. One other constant in my vehicle is a trauma kit. It never leaves the car. I've grabbed that thing more times than I'd like to count. Another requirement is the training to backup the use of the contents within the kit. I get free medical supply replacements if I submit a story with the request. Comes in handy once you soon realize how expensive medical gear can be as it starts to stack up. Lastly on the necessities list comes non-melting/perishable snacks. I get hangry and that's no good for anybody around me including myself. Keep up the good work my friend.

I find it irresponsible to leave a gun in the car especially when not in a car gun safe. The vehicles can be broken into at anytime now you just armed a criminal. A little tip for you Don. The rear windows on the Hummer are already tented dark, around 20%. If you have dark tent added to rear and sides that has the mirrored outer surface, from the outside it wont look all that dark with the lighter color behind your factory tent. This makes it very tuff to see into the truck and if you cover the things in the rear with a black fleece blanket it's even tougher. I hope this helps.

great advice man. People need to hear that. All too often I see people acting crazy while driving. I used to be that way but I've been so calm even in crappy situations. you have to use your adult mind and see things through adult eyes to see how much of a child everyone else acts sometimes. Some people Never Grow Up, they act like a teenager who's just looking for a fight. I just left these people off anymore because I know if it gets serious I will handle the situation

Not exactly a 'survival' item, but I always carry a 20,000lb tow strap in my car. Some are available in spray-paint-can sizes and cost very little.

klemens d you are both paranoid and foolish. Sudden stops or side swipes both sent those things in the visor away from the driver. If anything you would need to worry more about whats directly behind the driver. No ones ever seen tinted windows and thought "jackpot" EVERYONE HAS TINTED WINDOWS INCLUDING SOCCER MOMS!!! Lastly that sticker looks like a band sticker. My brother who doesnt own guns has a rifle family his wife doesnt. Her car has been broken into his hasn't.

you have a good point with the stickers, however, tinted windows statistically do reduce the chance of a break-in. I've even had it happen to me.
