Too wet and windy to do anything outside so spending a day making salves and bath melts, soaps and an apron. Recipes are below. The apron is not quite finished - it is to wear when teaching at the Hawthorn Academy of Healing Herbs. I made a Birch Leaf salve using Birch leaf infused olive oil. This was gently heated along with some beeswax. When the beeswax had melted the mixture was poured into small tins and I added some drops of Black Spruce essential oil.
120ml Birch Leaf Infused Oil
15g beeswax
5 drops approx of Black Spruce essential oil.
For the Rose and Poppy Seed Bath Melts I melted 35g of cocoa butter with 70g of shea butter. When this mixture had cooled slightly I added some ground rose petals and some essential oils of Rose and Frankincense. Sprinkle the poppy seeds into the moulds and then pour in the melted butters. Allow to set. To use just drop one little melt into the bath water and luxuriate! To see how I made the soap, go to my soap making video.
