Sooty and Co S04E14 - Highland Fling

Matthew assumes a letter addressed to the 3rd Lord of Glenfurry is for him and sets off for Scotland to claim his heritage, followed by the puppets in the camper. Matt learns "how to be Scottish", is kept awake all night by a piper and tricked into thinking he's seen the Loch Ness Monster by the puppets. Finally they arrive at castle Glenfurry, where Matt and the others discover it is Sooty who is the Laird. All the puppets have a party with jelly and cakes - and Matt is given horrible porridge.

I remembered watching the Sooty and Co on ITV back in the 90's when I was very young. I really do enjoying watching the show and I do wished the whole series is finally released onto complete DVD collection at last.

I went to Scotland a couple of years ago and didn't hear any pipers or try salt porridge. I did however spend a whole week sleeping on the floor and I got to try a deep fried mars bar.

I actually know Tom Cotcher (The Scottish characters here and DC Woods in The Bill) in real life. I went to the same Scout group as his oldest son and the same son was in my brother’s class at primary school. Lovely bloke, though unfortunately we lost contact a few years ago.

Why can’t Matthew do what *I* would - merely sleep through the bagpipes? No wonder he’s not my favourite character - *Soo* is (I like her even if her name’s not spelt the customary way - S U E). And before anyone asks, yes, I *was* aware that (aired the last Friday of, not only December, but additionally 2007) she won the puppet special of the Weakest Link, which I was happy she did.
