A little treat for all you Sooty fans, a sneak peek behind the scenes of the one of Television's most iconic children's productions. Produced by The CB-TV Channel 14 team and first transmitted in 1983, we get to see just some of those involved in the making of this much loved show.

IMO these were the best Sooty Show episodes. Matthew Corbett was a legend. He made the show what it was, it will never be the same without him. The production crew were also very good, you can see the time and effort that went into making these episodes.

Matthew was one of the few entertainers who could genuinely hold my attention as a child. It was such a deceptively simple show, and just a hand puppet, Sweep, could genuinely make me laugh so much!

The Sooty Show of today can't hold a candle to when it was Matthew running the show. Such great memories of the 80s. Coming home from school and watching Sooty. Sweep was my favourite. Wish Matthew hadn't given it up.

I grew up with the Duncan Goodhew episode on VHS. It's sooo amazing to see part of it again with all the cameras around 20+ years later!

This is amazing. I never knew it took this much work to produce The Sooty Show. I had just asssumed Matthew set up a camera, recorded the daily antics of his little friends and then sent the tape off to Thames Television where ir was pretty much put it in their VCR and broadcast it in its unedited form. Thanks for uploading, I've learnt alot from this.

Interestingly Enough I have the episodes being filmed on Video. the Sooty and Superdog tape from 1986. Interesting seeing behind the scene of that episode.

Hello! He would have been the director of photography. He was watching the sun to see if it go into a cloud. If he could see a cloud looming he would get the gaffer to adjust the light, you see him with his hand near the light source at one point. Although they would probably retake if it was really noticeable to the exposure..

Why weren't Sooty and Sweep investigated by Yewtree? There's evidence on tape of them sexually harrassing poor Soo in the shower there. What did they get up to when the cameras were turned off?

I always felt sorry for Sue, she had two suitors chasing her, one so shy he wouldn't speak in public and the other with a severe speech impediment. I always felt she could do better - she should have gone chasing Kermit, he owned his own theatre.
