Iirc (it's been a while) this song was made as a joke because when they were in Japan, the two of them made this little tune to thank their Japanese staff and then just decided to go full blown extra and make a song and performance for the fans.

I believe Otsukare is a Japanese phrase that roughly translates to “you worked hard today”. Usually Japanese people say this to their fellow coworkers when they leave to go home for the day. This was performed in Japan so it was like BTS was telling the fans Otsukare.

This song came about when Hobi I believe came up with a little jingle to thank their japanese staff for their hard work after the show like the sunshine he is and they just turned it into a whole song that they performed for muster. Also you gotta watch more sope stuff they have completely opposite personalities so when they come together it is 《i c o n i c》

this is exactly why i love sope. their friendship makes me so happy. hobi makes yoongi so happy and he brings out the goofy side of yoongi which we all love to see. they just bounce off of each other’s energy and i love them so much. and their voices are so good considering that they’re rappers. also my bias is yoongi and hobi is my bias wrecker so honestly i live for sope.

yep a must see for a hobiluvr! the backstory: i dont know if you realised that the song is in japanese. Hobi used to sing a version of this song after fan meetings to Japanese armys to thank them(the meaning of otsukare is: you worked hard). Later suga suggested to sing it together w him on stage. And they created the song!! Now its not only loved by Japanese armys but all armys around the world :))

Otsukare means “you have worked hard” in Japanese, and it is said widely by japanese to show appreciation for someone’s hard work, English doesn’t has this term so so the closest translation will be thank you for your hard work, so SOPE makes this song to show appreciation towards Bighit staffs for their hard work and this was hobi’s idea actually , hope it will help ya~ 💜💜
