If the Queen died now, Charles STILL wouldn’t be the oldest to receive the crown if Sophia didn’t die earlier than expected. (She was expected to outlive Queen Anne.)

Sophia died in June 1714 aged 83 Anne died in August 1714 aged 49 Sophia was almost queen had she not walked in her large garden. She ran to her house when suddenly a lightning struck and she collapsed and died. Some historians said that Sophia died after reading what Anne replied to her by shocked. Sophia wanted to send her son George to her for a plot, but Anne said that would be not allowed, then she was shocked and the shocked killed her.

Fun fact, Sophia of Hanover was chosen to be the heir presumptive over her grand-niece Frederica Mildmay, the Countess of Mértola, due to the fact that Frederica's grandfather (Sophia's older brother) married his second wife Marie Luise von Degenfeld without getting consent from his first wife, Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel, to divorce. Under local civil and religious law, this arguably made their marriage bigamous and it was legally considered to be "morganatic", which prevented titles from being passed down to children, thus Sophia was considered to be more legitimate. Had this marriage been taken seriously however, Frederica Mildmay would have been made queen, and her descendant, Anthea Theresa Lycett, a British aristocrat born in 1954 would be Queen today.
