If Candace Parker was left off after going through the process, then so should CC. Candace was in her prime and eventual won Finals MVP. CC is nowhere nearly as accomplished. She should earn her turn.

Great analysis on this Clark situation. Although, I don't think she should be on the alternate list either. She is not reliable on defense and rebounding. We are trying to win another Gold, not win a popularity contest. It makes a lot more sense for her to play in the All-Star game against the USA Team and see if she is ready to even be a backup.

Claire instead of 20 million Americans watching this Olympic basketball game if Clark plays you would have 150 million people in America watching the game. And probably over 1 billion people around the world! What a buildup for women’s sport around the world. And all the little girl who would be inspired.

Sophia Smith is not that stupid. I have no idea why people think she would be that dumb. Go back and watch it in slow motion. Also, the ref should have called that game before that. Agreed, she is totally innocent!

Why does everyone seem to be suggesting that Sophia Smith's Red Card was cheating or an accident, when it is so obvious what was going on. Sophia Smith grabbed the ball and smuggled it away under the bench as a prank (as if to say wouldn't it be funny if ...) more so than a cynical attempt to waste time, that is why she took the ball from under the bench as quickly as she put it there, all the while wearing a big smile. No one had to tell her to give the ball back. Unfortunately for her, the referee did not see the funny side.

This issue was that on her first yellow card. Smith had kicked the ball to the sideline for a delay of time penalty. However, before that NCC had done that three times without being given a yellow. No matter how they call a game a ref must be consistent. In the case of yellows for delay of game this ref was clearly not consistent.
