Something I love about product, probably more than OOEPUI, is the lyricism and just general meaning of the songs. As another transperson, SOPHIE’s music really speaks to me. But hearing your analysis of the songs having a different experience was really interesting. In particular Hard, Elle, and L.O.V.E. Hard to me was always both a nod at how hard it is to exist as a transfeminine person, having to put up your hair, wear the heels. But it also sorta serves as an acceptance of kink and sexuality as a transperson (hence the feminine voice saying “I just get so hard”), but I really enjoyed your generalization to women in general. As with Elle I loved when you said it feels like you’re taking off a mask and putting it back on. Elle in French means she and, to me, was always a song about struggling to coming to terms with being a woman. Realizing you enjoy taking off the mask, but struggling with feeling like you CAN’T take it off for fear of what people will think. As for L.O.V.E., this song (on top of your brilliant analysis of it) always felt to me both like a description of the pain of love you have for someone else and for yourself. Love is difficult, even the best relationships will have their struggles and breakdowns, and not all love ends in love. As for self love I kinda relate it back to my perspective as a transfeminine person. You struggle not realizing why you’re suffering, hating yourself and not realizing why. And then you realize why, and you find yourself, and it is beautiful. But then you have to struggle internally against the binds of a society which conditioned you to meet yourself with abjection. I absolutely loved this video and it was great seeing you react to one of my favorite works, you’re absolutely amazing Fern and keep doing what you’re doing. Much love 💙💗🤍💗💙

Wow i felt the exact way about L.O.V.E when i first heard it. Love how it shows both "symptoms" of beeing in love, both sides. How it can be so dark and even kind of deafening like the buzzing part but also the fact that its worth waiting for it to end to get into the euphoric ,sweet part of beeing in love

Hey, I commented this some where else but I highly recommend you listen to black dresses! They combine so many different genres in their music and it is really interesting. I won’t recommend listening to their first album ‘WASTEISOLATION’ as it really explicitly delves into abuse. However their later albums are relatively less explicit in that part. They just released ‘FORGET YOUR OWN FACE’ this week However I recommend listening to ‘PEACEFUL AS HELL’ first! Hope you enjoy, I love your reactions!

Sophie wrote Lemonade about piss play fyi. Queen shit! She used to open her sets, way back in 2016, with L.O.V.E. to intentionally hurt people lmao. I remember the first time I heard that song, it was on very loud speakers/amplifiers and huge subwoofers and lemme tell you, it was a total facemelter. I was shook deep to my core, you can literally feel the ground shaking. I then also told myself , I never wanted to hear it again. As time went by, I discovered more artists in the bubblegum bass (that, apparently, was the original more or less form of hyperpop) genre. Because of that, I got really used to loud, harsh, abrasive, experimental sounds and now, L.O.V.E. is basically a walk in the park for me. I realized that It's not really just buzzing noises, you can actually hear textures behind the many layers of it.

I’ve never seen anyone else say this but MSMSMSM always make me think of bees? Like I’ve always taken the song title as a visual representation of the sort of zigzaggy movement pattern of bees and the song starts off sounding like a swarm of bees to me? And the predominant melody sounds like frantic bee movements and zipping around, until it stops and breaks down…and then it sounds like a funeral dirge to me? Like a bee funeral as you hear the swarm at large swelling in the background, until they swallow you back up and you get right back into the frenzied feeling of it all. Idk it’s always made me think of the sort of “rat race” of being caught up in bullshit daily life and being stuck in a crappy career, working away like a good worker bee - and staying in that until you inevitably perish. And people might be sad for a minute but then the bullshit keeps carrying on and there’s always someone else to replace you in the sort of system that so many people exist in? Almost like a cautionary tale. Idk that probably says more about me than it does about the song but 🤷🏻♂️😂
