Honestly, I never understood why this movie was so hated. It's obviously not as good as the first two movies but I still enjoyed it well enough. Can't say the same about the 4th movie though. My favorite parts are Shrek roasting Prince Charming and Donkey and Puss singing during the credits. "Could you kill me and then sing?"

Agreed, it’s just the vast majority of the people who liked the first two films had high expectations with this one but were underwhelmed by it and felt it was a giant step backwards from it’s predecessor due to the story and humor. So because of this the majority just pretend the third and to a lesser extent the fourth never existed hence why a few don’t react to them.

The fourth part is better than the third. Firstly, in the fourth part the problem is solved correctly, but in the third part it is not, that is, in the third part Shrek is afraid of parental responsibility, and this is the problem, if he does not have children, then what will happen? Would he have abandoned Fiona, sent his friends away, and lived alone in the swamp? That is, in the third Shrek, the main character wants to become more human, which I personally don't really like, but with children it's not crazy. And in the fourth part, Shrek gets tired of friends, wife and children and wants to return himself to the way he was in the first part. And his problem, as in the second part, is "do I deserve to live happily ever after?"and his main problem is "appreciate what you have." Secondly, the main villains in the third part are Prince charming, and in the fourth - Rumplestiltskin. To be honest, I'm reviewing the third part because of Prince and Artie, but in the end, Chaming turns into an idiot, and you don't feel the threat coming from him, which was at the beginning and in the middle. And Rumplestiltskin, yes, he was fooling around too, but it looked funny, and he's one of the best villains of Shrek, yes, he's not up to a Fairy, but he's much better than Chaming and even more so Farquaad.

@@thepandorica1660 Even the same can be said for the majority of the folks not reacting to the fourth and fifth _Indiana Jones_ films and the Star Wars Prequel trilogy, and in the case with Indiana Jones, the "Indy Die-Hards" fanbase will try to disuade any newcomers introduced to the Indiana Jones franchise to *NOT* watch the fourth and fifth films.

Two subtle jokes here - one, in Shrek 2 you see teenage Fiona had a poster for a "Sir Justin" which was Timberlake. Here, he voices Arthur. And after Fiona's dad dies, the song being played with the frog chorus is Paul McCartney's 1973 Bond theme "Live and Let Die". McCartney also released a song called "We All Stand Together" in 1984, the video featured an animated frog chorus.

As someone who liked this movie, I don’t understand the hate (I remember one KZbin even flushed a dvd of Shrek 3 down the toilet, I think it was shown in Schaffrillas’s Dreamworks video iirc). It may not be as good as the 2nd movie, but I don’t think it’s atrocious like people make it out to be

Thanks for this reaction, I never really shared the hate for this movie that much of the internet does. Yeah, it's still the weakest of the Shrek movies and sure, there are some cringy moments that don't land well but it's still funny and has some standout moments like the other movies. I also like Charming as a villain, yeah he's kinda pathetic compared to the other villains but that's kinda what I love about him XD Also, the line "can you kill me and then sing" lives in my head rent free XD

Arthur is voiced by Justin Timberlake (ironically was one of the posters in Fiona's room in 2 had "Sir Justin" on it with his face). Merlin is voiced by British actor (and fellow Monty Python alum with John Cleese) Eric Idle. On that note, if you haven't seen the Monty Python movies yet you really need to, Sophie.

Shrek the Third isn't that bad of a film, but it’s definitely nowhere near as good as the first two films. It does somewhat feel like an extended short, but still comes off as a solid continuation to where the second film left off and it’s still funny. The drama and humor in the first two was a lot better, which is part of why this film suffers.

7.5/10 Pretty Good Third Film The story of Shrek the Third (2007) is not quite as good as the first or second films but the comical lines and visual comedy is still right up there with the first two movies. Some of the new characters are not quite as enduring and memorable in Shrek 3 but they are quite likable and entertaining. The animation in this 3rd installment of the film series is still awesome. All I can really say is I enjoyed this 3rd film

King Arthur needs to return for Shrek 5, even if it's just a small cameo. Some of the fans and the future Shrek films (if there's going to be more after Shrek 5) need to start acknowledging the fact that Arthur is the current king of Far, Far Away. It's like this: you can no longer make a Shrek movie without mentioning FFA and who's running it. This kingdom has been introduced to us audiences since 2004. And it has been part of almost every Shrek media/movie there is (Shrek 2, Far, Far Away Idol, Shrek 3, Shrek 4, Shrek Thriller, and Puss in Boots 2). It's obvious that we're going back to FFA in Shrek 5 since we got that small glimpse/tease of it at the end of Puss in Boots 2. I think it's about damn time we see how Arthur is running the kingdom.

And I don't understand why many people don't like "Madagascar" and "Ice Age." These are wonderful cartoons. Well, in Madagascar, the first two parts are great, and the third is weaker, but still good. And "Ice Age" became bad after the fourth part (the first three parts are a masterpiece, the fourth is just weaker, and the fifth is complete nonsense).

I can say this about all the parts of "Shrek": "shrek" is about love and life; "Shrek 2" is the best sequel of all time; "Shrek 3" is a responsibility, and so far it's the worst triquel; "Shrek Forever" is a soul and happiness.

Do you guys understand? The third "Shrek" did not have what was in the first two parts. It seems to be done without interest, everything is somehow straightforward and boring, there are no scenes that make you want to cry with happiness or sadness, there is little action, only a fight of princesses and pirates of some kind, but still not that. There are references, but they are not noticeable, and I do not understand the meaning of referring to school (does this mean that all the bastards at school are not only bullies, but also girls and teachers, and the only normal person is Artie?). But in the fourth part, the man who played the pied piper's flute is the famous jazz flutist Jeremy Steig, the son of the late William Steig, author of the original book Shrek.

I don't understand why many people don't like the 4th part? Yes, I admit a parallel reality, a repetition from the previous parts, there is no ridiculing of fabulous standards, etc. Many people do not like it. But the fourth part is the most soulful of all the parts, and there are no such idiotic moments in it as in the "disgusting third part". Personally, for me, the 4th part of "Shrek" is the best 4th part, and after that I don't want the 5th "Shrek".

I don't think this one is that good to be honest, I don't think the humour is as strong as the first two films, the soundtrack is a lot less memorable and even the character drama side of things largely falls flat. But it's not a terrible film by any means, it's got a couple of great scenes, including some rather funny moments during the first third in particular. Easily the weakest of the series, but still a decent bit of entertaining fluff for the most part. I hope you continue on with the fourth one at some point, I know it's quite a divisive one but I personally think that one is quite underrated

This movie is ok. I like the princesses, they are funny and when they escape it's cool! The music is fine, Donkey and Puss are entertaining BUT the rest is bad. Charming is not as intimidating as his mother, the humor is awful, Arthur is annoying; all his kid does is insult Shrek, the ogre's nightmare is not funny. 4|10 Not sure i will rewatch it again 😐
