Sophie, your video is an amazing work, produced so soon after the reopening! I sincerely had no idea of what to expect and am stunned at the quality of each and every aspect of the renovations you have shown us. I am especially appreciative of the attention to color the work reflects. Just beautiful. Thank you so much.

Sophie, you’ve done a wonderful job on this video. We were fortunate enough to visit Paris in 2013 (we live in the US), and Notre Dame was my favorite. Looking forward to more from you!

I fell in love with the "First Notable Lady" many years ago, mainly for what was there before the cathedral was built. I imagine the interior is now similar to what it would have looked like before 800 years of burning candles in the place. Before the Romans got there the Ile de Cite was thought to be the site of a Druid academy for as long as we can study Celtic history. Thanks Sophie, great vid mate, Cheers from 'Straya.

I love how the new main altar is so unassuming. it almost vanishes from the eye as you can look past it so easily to the other artworks and still is a marvelous central altar for the Cathedral. Surprisingly well done.

Gosh, I hadn't even considered that! Great catch and thanks for sharing :)

What do you mean? That's literally a wooden bowl!! That's simply ugly and poorly done. It has nothing to do with the gothic style of Notre Dame...
@florianartus32314 күн бұрын
@@laercio8347 It seems that you don't really look at things before judging : the new furniture is absolutely not made of wood.

Stunning images, thank you very much! Your wording is not entirely accurate, though. You keep saying "renovation", but Notre Dame was not renovated, it was reconstructed and restored. Renovation means you update a place by painting the walls with fresh pain, replacing old doors with new and different ones, installing a new heating system etc., for example. Restoration however means that you restore a buidling to its original state, removing for example wear and tear or replacing broken pieces with exact replicas but overall conserving as much of the original features as possible. So exactly what happened here - you even say it yourself: the painted walls have been freed from the dirt and sud of centuries, the stonework and masonry have been carefully cleaned, pieces of the woodwork destroyed by the fire have been replaced with replicas. Since the whole effort was basically unparalled, the restoration of Notre Dame is unique in the sense that we can now see the cathedrale as close to as it originally looked like when major construction was finished in the 14th century.
