You are 100% correct. And I wish there was a way to assure anyone going through it that you DO absolutely come through it all in time. Look for the lesson in it. Learn the lesson. Let go! BUT... when you're actually in the middle of going through it??? NONE of that stuff makes any sense! I just pray for anyone suffering. It's no fun 😞

Childhood trauma follows a person through life. Depression can be as terminal as a physiological disease; the ending just often looks different and is so very traumatic. Hugs and love to Wynonna and Ashley. I understand the anguish and confusion of their loss.🙏🏻🥹💙 May Naomi rest easy.💔

This was such a beautiful decision for these two talented women to share these episodes with the world. This inspires each of us for different reasons and whatever that is, these shows have been a blessing. My heart was sad to hear about Naomi, which makes these performances even more special. Thanks for the honesty that takes place here, that in itself is the miracle! All of us need a ton of integrity in our lives back then and now.

This is mine and my daughters' story..minus the fame. This year at 57 I've learned that my youngest daughter is ADHD, I'm Autistic, and my oldest daughter is most likely autistic as well..but been diagnosed BPD. Watching the emotional, complex relationships between these women is making me weep. I totally relate.

@@thomasmccaffrey264 Thank you. When a person can't communicate properly with the closest person to them..and no 'ill will' is intended..you need to look at what the barriers are. Autism answered EVERYTHING for us. People are assuming Naomi was narcissistic and controlling with Wynonna..and perhaps she was most of her life..but I propose it wasn't due to narcissism. In most of these episodes you see WY nervous and high strung and ready to jump to defensiveness around Naomi..even though Naomi isn't intentionally trying to trigger her. She actually looks and acts cautious when WY is around. WY keeps saying how frustrated and hard for her it is. She's triggered easily. So..What actually can be done if the person means no ill will...but gets 'shut down' every conversation because the recipient is sensitive and receives everything as negative? Is it up to the receiver to handle their own emotions and not project them back? I mean..if I tell you something that I see 'as truth' and mean no 'ill will', am I the bad guy if that is twisted into a negative by the receiver? If the receiver is a child then I believe it IS the responsibility of the adult to be aware of what being said could be perceived in a different way than what the intention is. But other adults? That seems unfair and breeds a person that 'walks on eggshells' because she is afraid of triggering others. It also forces you into defensiveness or shutdown because you become afraid to voice your opinions..even if they are out of goodwill..because you are constantly put down or assumed wrong or accused of things that just were not meant. In the 2020 Christmas special Naomi seems broken, WY is the happiest I've ever seen her. I'm happy for WY...but it's heartbreaking 💔 😢

That family was a nightmare. Yes, all the stuff, rip, so sad, but if you know anything about the cycle of childhood sexual abuse, you will know that this was never a happy family, and Naomi became a complete narcissist. This woman manipulated her daughters, to believe they couldn’t survive without their mother, so this, will be a nightmare for them. Even though it was never really true. When a parent implants such beliefs in their own children, in secret, showing a very different side to the outside world, the child begins to doubt themselves, so deeply, they can easily become as consumed by their own insecurity as the parent who groomed them to believe it to be true.

I have never seen this before. Fun to see Nashville’s Soundcheck, which I have been in a few times. And Don Potter is in this video; now I offer a prayer for him because his lovely wife, Christine, could not survive her bout with COVID. So, if seeing the first 10:00 minutes of this show stirs anything in me, note, and watching this now as we must experiencing the new reality of this legendary group, I realize why the Lord has tried to teach me-over and over again-why it is so important to “let not your heart be troubled” and to be “anxious about NOTHING” (John 14:1-3; Philippians 4:6 NASB) as I obey him and do everything he allows me to do whilst dwelling on this earth. Because the true power of life is seeing the value in each being! I really don’t know what tomorrow holds. And because of that fact, I don’t want to look back and wish I had walked with those persons closes to me in peace. Hey, even now, at times, I wake at night wishing I could correct an outburst I had with someone, especially when it is based on my own anxiety issues. Lord, please help me to see each person as if this were the last time I will EVER see them alive.🙏!!! P. S. I hate the trappings of fame and wealth. Nuff said.🥲

You are one of the rare people, to see through Naomi. I’m not suggesting she was evil, or always intentionally cruel, but I think she was very good at hiding the part of her, that groomed her own daughter into developing an unhealthy sense of obligation and “devotion”, by planting key seeds, at key times, so nuanced, as be nearly untraceable as a means of preventing her from ever feeling confident, or free enough to leave, and live her own life. This is the main responsibility of a parent, to teach the child through guidance, nurturing, and discipline to become independent enough, to be successful on their own. The child often chooses to return to a nest, as an adult, by choice, if the nest was ever a truly loving and selfless place. Naomi had hepatitis C, which is only fatal if left untreated, otherwise it is a very common, treatable, chronic illness. Why no one ever dared to question this, was and is beyond me.

@@fowchiiiliedpuppiesdied Back in the 80's and early 90's, Hep C WAS fatal. Even in 1995, after completing interferon and being cured, not everyone had access to the medication. Naomi's husband flew to NJ to obtain it. It was likely not covered by insurance at the time, and very expensive. Both of my parents went through interferon treatment in the early 2000's. They were both cured, but it was like undergoing chemo. Now, they have pills, with an even higher success rate. Naomi claims she was stuck with a Hep C infected needle, as a nurse. That seems unlikely to me. It likely resulted from sexual transmission, but she probably didn't want to admit that. Be well & blessed.

Two independent - resentment - speak your mind - stubborn - dominating and wanting to take charge personalities will not mesh together. Then add in trauma - any "possible" addictions - any diagnosed mental health illness - what transpired thru the course of each of their lives and what transpired as a family unit - dysfunction and lack of emotional skills to cope and manage those aspects is a recipe for a disaster. There should had been independent therapy and family therapy decades ago. Their lives should be seen as an example to reflect on our own traits and flaws and how we may struggle with things and family strife. There is something valuable to learn from it. I pray Wynonna - her children -her sister achieve healing upon their journey. ❤

@@variousJnames she was a victim. She had a cruel mother, she was sexually molested at 3 yrs old, and she was a struggling single parent. When one is victimized in their youth they have an overwhelming need to keep control out of fear or they become addicts and loose everything . It’s really easy to give up . She decided to take control. I give her kudos for addressing her demons. One never truly recovers. She did the best she could. I hate these mean comments. I’ve never heard anything negative about Wynona or Naomi. Wynona’s daughter went to prison. That does not make her a bad mother. Life is complicated. I think we all suck sometimes and really the "being on a bus for 10 years with your mother" really would be hard for most of us. The question is whether they should try going on tour together at all. The dysfunctional part is having a public life to the extent that you think it's worthy of a documentary. Of course they DO have a public life, but it may not be the way to mend these fences. Maybe they shouldn't even try to work together. Do what people do. Go on vacation. Even just Thanksgiving is too much for most of us. Adding enormous stress when they really don't get along seems like a terrible idea. And PS, with all these comments about Naomi, I imagine it would be very hard to have a Wynonna Judd for a mother.

Growing up with a controlling mom that unknowingly wrecks your self esteem every 5 seconds does that to you… and it’s something you only understand if you’ve experienced it and I have.
