Recipe: Goat Milk Lavender Soap + DIY Loofa

I teamed up with the one and only Kenneth Wingard today to make these fabulous DIY gifts! Lavender is one of my favorite scents, and I love how it pairs perfectly with the all natural goat milk soap! It could not be easier!
Materials for the Loofah:
Hemp Cord // goo.gl/DaA11i
Crochet Hook // goo.gl/WURDrZ
Materials for the Soap:
Goat’s Milk Melt & Pour Soap Base // goo.gl/GfXqL5
Soap Mold // goo.gl/VNz4wV
Alcohol Spritz // goo.gl/Yf1eWM
Dried Lavender Flowers // goo.gl/t3jVeu
Lavender oil // goo.gl/4KC5qh
Directions for the Soap:
1. Cut up soap into smaller pieces and microwave for 2 minutes. Mix in your lavender flowers and about 20 drops of lavender oil.
2. Pour the soap into the mold.
3. You need to wait until the soap is set (overnight is best), then spritz with alcohol. Add a thin layer of melted soap and sprinkle on the dried lavender.
4. Pull finished soap out of mold.

I have used the melt and pours and I think they are fabulous. I make different types of pretty soaps and sell them at craft shows. I do a pretty good business with it. I don't particularly want to have a ton of ingredients sitting around like you need with doing it from scratch. Messy and not necessary. Yay for the melt and pours.

No, the alcohol evaporates. You need it with melt and pour soap to get the air bubbles out. I spray my cold processed soap with alcohol to prevent soda ash caused by the lye.

I also have tried Melt and Pour soap "one time" never again. I make my own soap from scratch as well by the hot-press method. While M& P is attractive to look at, I see not real benefits to it. Just do not like the quality. However, GREAT idea for gifts!

Don't no one tell you in these videos that when adding botanicals to the Soap, they change color and go brown because of the heat from the melt and pour soap.

Not always. Depends on the quality, freshness and type of flower.

I love goat milk soap but I prefer soap made from scratch, not melt and pour, and that's why I make my own soap that has such great proprieties for our skin. Many years ago I used some M&P soap that I bough and my hands were so dry, and I stopped using it.

Cristina Galit I applaud you for making your own from scratch Cristina! I prefer to do this, but for the Home & Family show it's way too complicated, so Melt & Pour is a good "training wheels" or into, into creating soap!

This is not making soap. This is melting a pre-made soap. Hot or cold process soap making is making soap.
