Soprano trombone review

I love this instrument, I have played trumpet and trombone! I like the fact the the tenor trombone positions are easily transferable, although I am still learning! I am so glad to see that someone is taking the instrument seriously - most brass players - especially trombonists seem to think it is a toy!

I play the trombone and the trumpet and I have a soprano trombone and I love it, being in tune is quite difficult it takes a lot of doing

I managed to get one of these today, it’s second hand but mint and the make is Jupiter all complete with case. I got it for £45 which I didn’t think was too bad really. It’s more for novelty and a bit fun which I’m sure it will be! Thanks for your review.

I’m a trumpet player and have literally wanted one of these for over 10 years lol. Never picked up a bone but was wondering how to learn where the trumpet valve fingerings equate to positions

You should pick one up! The positions correspond directly to trumpet fingerings: 0 - 1st position 2 - 2nd position 1 - 3rd position 12 - 4th position 23 - 5th position 13 - 6th position 123 - 7th position

I'm a trumpet player, although I've been playing soprano trombone on and off for about 15 years. I actually find it easier to play high on the sop since the bore is smaller (.452 compared to .459 on my Yamaha Xeno 8335RS). Interesting that you find it to be otherwise. I wonder if it is the make and model. Mine is a Jupiter, never tried the Jinbao.

Not like a tenor bone has, but the point where the bell section and slide section attach is adjustable so you can set the desired tuning there and tighten a little screw to lock it at that point, if that makes sense?

plays like a trumpet with a slide. you probably figured this out by now but if you can’t play a trumpet then one of these will be very difficult
