Looking good! I'm glad you've started to get settled and it's awesome how many nice things you've been able to find second hand! I'm a huge proponent of that as well. I'd love to hear more about how you're trying to live sustainably and if you think it's easier or harder to do in Germany than in the US.

Such a great apartment! I can tell you're super proud of it and with good reason. It looks so cozy and comfortable. I love that you got a lot of your things second hand. I'm a big believer in that. No reason to go out and buy new things when there's already something made that works just fine!

What a fabulous apartment! You've done an amazing job furnishing it so beautifully on a shoestring. I think that's part of the fun of setting up a home on your own though! I knew about German apartments not having kitchens from friends who used to live there, but didn't know about the lack of light fittings! Here in the UK you must leave each light fitting and a bulb when a home changes hands. I would love to hear more about the changes you are making to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Its something I'm trying to do too, so I'm keen to get ideas where I can!

Nice job on the appartment Becky! Just a little warning about europallets. We made a couch of them some time ago and they require a lot of sanding down to be safe as they spray them with pretty harsh stuff. Just something to consider. Maybe painting them would lock it in? Because you would use them for a bed i would think twice about it 😘

Oh yikes! Thanks for the info...yeah I definitely don't want any harsh chemicals flying around...maybe I'll think twice about that!

It's a beautiful apartment, and you've done an amazing job getting it set up! The idea of having to furnish your own kitchen in a rental sounds so daunting to me. 😅

Usually rentals in Germany are very long-term. Only few people are ever able to buy an apartment/house, most people rent and sometimes spend their entire life in one rental. I have been living for over 13 years in our current one (with no plans to move).

@@neurocrafter2428 Oh interesting- that makes sense. Different than how I (and I imagine most Americans?) think of rentals.
