I love the camel and I love these vids! I love the black and white pinwheel pattern on the wheels with black and white stripes on the cowel

Hi, Scott! Yeah, the wing roundels are BIG indeed! (Slightly intimidating.) It's easier to handle a "compass" or "trammel point" because it is just a couple of inches longer than the RADIUS of the roundel... about 27 or 28 inches rather than 52 or 54 inches. For my SE5a a flexible trammel point of thin bendable wood was used, and I taped a small block of wood to one end, and drilled a hole through this block to hold a mechanical pencil - which kept the pencil point steady and perpendicular to the surface even going over the airfoil. Inventory is tough, fabric, tubes, the "whole nine yards" in fact! I thought about starting an account with ACS&S, for that reason, but it seemed too much. I'm interested in how you'll attach the firewall. There's too many options. And in particular, how will you seal the outer edges of the firewall? Thanks, good luck and keep up the good work! (coffee, coffee, coffee) John SE5a

I would definitely go with Green "Olive Drab" on the wheels.
@scottmatthews52802 ай бұрын
I’m leaning that way thanks

For the compass use a thin strip of wood, so its flex's over the ribs, with a center pin for the center of the roundel and a hole at the difference radii for a pencil tip to go into for marking the diameters.

Yes, that is what I did on the fuselage thanks

You're 1/2 way there ;-) 👌👌👍👍 NB: I reckon green for the wheel covers, white or linen will show dirt from the runway. Plus it would look the same as the fuz side on view.

Hey Scott. Terrific work as usual. The wheel covers should be the same color you choose for the cowl. That's my thoughts on the subject. Love your work!
@scottmatthews52802 ай бұрын
Cowl will be aluminium natural look.
@johnb.11622 ай бұрын
@@scottmatthews5280 Ahh. Well in that case you have opened all the options. Linen, red or olive drab. I'd lean towards the olive drab or red but whatever you choose, it is going to be magnificent! Can't wait for your next installment.

There are many WW-1 factory pictures of the wings being mounted with the fuselage on the nose before the engine is install. Just something to think about. Green wheel covers.

take a bradawl and poke holes in your paper template about 50 - 75 mm apart around the circles, then you can mark your wing through the template with pencil or chalk or similar.

Hi Scott. Always look forward to your videos. Do you know how the weight of your Camel will compare to the original (minus the gun)? And is your engine more or less powerful than the original?
@scottmatthews52802 ай бұрын
More power less weight I believe but time will tell thanks

Hi Scott I think the wheel covers would look good in the same colour as the cowl, whatever that is. I'm going to guess here, poished aluminium?? Loving following this build. I'm also an ex rc modeller that loved solartex and then similar fabric to the camel with dope, cant remember the name of it though. Also built a 601xl with Jab 3300 so yes i followed the 750 cruzer. Keep up the great content mate. Phill Gympie Qld

G'day Scott, Great, mate ! I'm lovin' it...! Busy as a one-legged person in an Arse-Kicking Contest, myself..., at the moment ; on Monday I actually went into Time-Dilation and barked..., using "The Tone Of COMMAND !" Which reached out 15 metres , to a Contractor's Sub-Contractor - resulting in him Leaping... Like a startled Kangaroo (!). And the Concrete Truck's back Wheels, spinning while trying to go forwards - uphill..., slid backwards downhill instead ; Missed connecting with the Sub-Contractor's trailing Shirt-Tail..., by 1 inch (25mm) Maybe... If I hadn't barked He'd have been very badly broken, at best. Check my Upload a few hours ago, and read the Description to unpack it all...; but suffice to say that I'm REALLY Enjoying watching you Building this Cameloid... You're doing a Superlative job, And I wish you Many delightful Hours Playing with it, Aloft ; When you eventually get it Airborne. Keep on keepin' on. Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !
