In the Japanese reveal, Sora uses the Japanese voice acting. Instead of "let's go" he says "omatase" which translates roughly to "sorry for making you wait"/"I've kept you waiting". Thought that was a super nice touch on the JP side.

The Mii Costumes are kinda symbolic. It started with Splatoon, in which the Inkling was the first Newcomer to Smash Bros. Ultimate, to the Doomguy, showing how dedicated Sakurai was to get third-party characters into the game for us.

I think my favorite nod in the trailer was 46:10 with the Sephiroth fight. I am happy it was a highlight for Sakurai too. One of the most memorable bosses of my childhood. Hopefully there's some kinda Event match in Stamina mode that pits Sora against Seph with insane amounts of HP.

Obviously I'm not the only one to say this, but disappointing to only see 2 allies here. I know not everyone cares about smash regardless of what character would be shown, but this is a big deal. It's the final character for Smash ultimate and the culmination of the entire series. There will very likely never be a moment like this again. To add insult to injury, not only was it the most requested character of all time, but it's a character that multiple allies are invested in.

No matter what people think about which characters made it, which characters didn't make it, if Smash is a "real fighting game" or not, or if they care about fighting games in general - Smash Ultimate will go down in history as one of most legendary video games of all time for what it's done.

My thought process was that the fighter was going to be Cinderace until I saw Mario throw the fireball, which in turn became a spinning blade shape. Once it stopped, I knew it was Sora; needless to say, I was not the least bit composed. And yes, I knew of the 4chan leak that stated that Sora would be the final reveal, and even the date of the Final Sakurai Presents. I honestly had no reason to believe it since my thought process was that the final fighter would have been a Pokemon rep from Sword and Shield (most likely Cinderace due to his popularity). And for the record, Sora was my most requested newcomer with Crash Bandicoot as a close second. I would have been content with either one of them, and I'm glad to have gotten the former.

To everybody saying this was too early. Fans in Japan have had to watch all Sony State of Plays at 6am and a majority of Nintendo Directs at 7am. A majority of fans in Asia have to watch both shows an hour earlier than in Japan. People should stop making silly excuses for Brad and Huber, both of which have a full time job playing and reviewing games, for not being able to just wake up for 40 minutes for an event as huge as this.

It's not like this was dropped out of the blue on a Saturday or Sunday morning, and they were up late partying the night before. The director of Final Fantasy 14 is too scared to go through the licensing hell to create a Kingdom Hearts crossover with the game, the fact that Sakurai and his team managed to pull this off for Smash is insane.

Master Cheif would NOT have made sense considering that Japan doesn't really care for Halo. It would be weird for Nintendo to make a character that Japan doesn't care about become the last Smash character. Sora was the perfect character to end Ultimate with seeing the reactions of both Japanese Twitter and Western Twitter.
