its even weirder considering the main story is going to be focused on bloodlines and why Sora and Riku are so special. They're related to Ephemer, and one of the foretellers. Kairi is too. But Sora doesn't even talk to his own mom!?

My headcanon on the whole "what about SRK's parents" topic is that maybe in the culture of Destiny Islands it isn't abnormal for 13/14/15 year olds to leave home and find their place in the world. Like if Sora and friends were only 10 years older we wouldn't question who or where their parents are or why they don't bring them up much, because in our culture its normal for 20something year olds to be totally independent, but in DI culture its totally plausible for that to be normal earlier in life. My MatPat game theory is that it went down like this: Sora's mom called him for dinner but he didn't answer. Went upstairs to look for him, found his window open and his boat missing. Maybe she knew they were building a raft, maybe she didn't, but after a couple days she figured "eh, he's grown enough to make his own decisions, hope he's safe" like how a parent feels when their kid goes to college. After a couple months she completely forgets him because of Castle Oblivion shenanigans (this part is horrifying, imagine forgetting your kid because of magic dementia). A year later, she starts to remember him again, which probably causes some serious grief from forgetting her son. Fast forward to the end of 2, Sora is back on the islands for at least a little while before the events of DDD so we can assume that he probably was like "hey mom I'm back from adventuring, might have to do it again tho because I have a magic sword that I have to save the world with sometimes". She probs understands at this point that her little sora has grown up and is doing his own thing now

A lot of people think that the reason they haven't been touched on yet is that Nomura intended for them to be implied to be abusive in some form (as in, more out right than characters we've had so far) but he can't get too far into that sort of subject area in any of the mainline games because of Disney

This selection in particular takes me back to sitting in my room on weekends and after school and playing it on my tiny 19 inch TV as a teenager all the way till I went to bed. I knew those moments were precious even then, but I didn't know exactly how much so. I hope the works that I write and create can provide my audience with the same kind of meaningful, comforting feeling.

There is a site called noclip that someone made where you can explore free cam. KZbin wont let me post the link but i suggest doing it on a desktop. Being able to explore KH1 and KH2 freely has brought adult me so much joy and nostalgia.

I mean, in the original game the entire world fell apart and she disappeared with it. There was no mom to go back and tell. Then when it got restored at the end, he got stuck outside his world and everyone forgot he existed because of Namine.

just imagine if kingdom hearts 4 had a scene around the beginning with this empty room and the song at 3:29 started playing and we see the shadow of soras mom at the door, you can tell she misses her son. then we get some closure at the end of kh4 of sora eating his moms dinner, idk just a sleepy thought.

The series ends when Sora wakes up and realizes that he dreamt the entire series. He was watching Disney movies and fell asleep, thinking of Riku and Kairi and their adventures together as children, now both gone off to college. His mother calls him in for dinner and he realizes an unsettling, melancholy, bittersweet sadness that it was all a dream.

I remember before kh 2 something happened that caused people to forget Sora. Castle Oblivion right? What if something happened that caused Sora and everyone to forget about his parents? And it's not even mentioned by the characters or even to the players because everyone forgot.

We think that Sora never went home, but I believe at the end of KH2 he was able to go home for a few months before travelling again. I think Sora told his parents and they've agreed to let him save the worlds swallowed in darkness. I bet they also seen the adventures Sora went on through Jiminy's Journal and when random people not from Sora's hometown started to appear.

He did go home but I dont think he ever saw his parents. What if they never got back or died from kh1, sora didnt seem too worried about seeing his parents, he never even mentioned them, as riku hasn't either.

Reminder that everyone forgot Sora for a year, then remembered him again all at once. Meaning that Sora's mom suddenly remembered one day that she has a son who's been missing for a year, and knows that she forgot about him.

I always wanted some actual story on riku and sora's life, who their parents were and how they came to live on the destiny islands. You know, some actual grounded story and background instead of just all the wacky multi sora vs mutli xehanort randomness we ended up getting. Yeah it was originally a game all about fantasy and stuff, but even flying fantasies start from grounded realities. I just wish we got that for all the characters before they got swept away by the waves of fantasy.
