Thank you very very much for your awesome work! I`m a beginner in painting miniatures and your tutorials are the perfect start to get into this hobby. The results I have achieved based on your Imperial Assault-videos are amazing and the production value of your videos is just awesome. I just became a patron to suppport your work. I am very excited that you are doing the Descent series. My Descent (2nd Edition) collection is the reason why I have started painting miniatures, but my lack of experience and my fear of screwing up my beloved miniatures prevented me to begin. So your Descent painting guide is a dream come true.

Excellent job, just outstanding. I look forward to purchasing your music. I would love to see a series of tutorials like this, but using fewer paints. This series of 7 videos uses 69 Citadel paint colors (if I counted correctly), and a couple Vallejos. That's $300 in paint and we still haven't seen all the monsters get painted. I would love to get all these paints and mirror your results, but at this price it's just not realistic for me. If this was a dozen paints and a couple washes that would be great.

Beautifully done. I've been painting minis since 1982 and still learned some new ideas from watching this video. A couple of questions for you: 1) why do you put the new base on top of another base? 2) Do you ever prime your minis with black?
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
+Bill Edmunds Thank you very much Bill! 1) I don't, but I can see that that is how it looks now you mention it! That's just how the Microart bases look. 2) Yes I often prime in black, but for generally bright-coloured minis like this I might choose white :)

My Syndrael is SUPER-DEFORMED. It's as if her upper torso has been glued onto the hips at the wrong angle/rotation. As well as this there is a lot of the curved detail lacking down her left greave, as if someone has handled her when not set. I'm going to have to warm her up in hot water before cutting her in half (being careful not to slice through the cape). I'll likely need some modeling putty of some kind to carefully fill any gaps as I glue her back together. I suppose I could practice all of this with some blu tack first. I may even try recasting the design down her greave with the same putty. I've never done anything like that before but I guess I can do this repeatedly on some paper first before lifting and applying a design I'm happy with?

Great Tutorial! I just finished painting Syndrael with your tutorial. It was really easy to understand so she turned out quite well even though this was my first paint-job ever! The part I struggled with the most were the highlights as I was often unsure about the parts that I had to highlight. Btw. your videos have a crazy good quality. Everything from the camera work to the soundtrack and explanation is top notch! I wanted to suggest something that could maybe improve the videos a little bit further. It would be really cool if you could link high resolution pictures from 3 or 4 angles after each step of painting so that we can be sure about the parts we have to paint. It may be too much of trouble though and I completely understand if this would be too much of a bother.
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the kind words and for the helpful suggestion! In my more recent videos I have been making more of a conscious effort to give the miniature a full spin after each main colour so viewers can hopefully see more clearly exactly where to place the paint; hopefully this will negate the need to take additional still shots at each stage (which would add a fair bit to the production time). :)

Your welcome. I recently started playing mini figure games with my son and painting the figures will help his interest and give me relaxing hobby. I only hope to have a fraction of your results! Very skilled.

Great video. THanks. One question, why do you use the premade washes? Isn't it the same as making your own by diluting the normal paint more?
@Sorastro6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I use the pre-made washes because they really are NOT like just diluting paint :)

Thanks! I hope to make more too, just might be a while (really hoping to get more Patreon support so I can change my day job to just creating videos)

Thank you Sorastro. I just followed your guidelines and painted my first miniature for Descent. The result is not as good as yours (I fumbled with the Coelia shade at the end for the eyes), but it's satisfying enough. Can't wait to see how you will paint the monsters.

Following (as well as I can) your steps here, and I wonder, when shading do you mix the washes with a bit of water? Or use them straight from the bottle?
@Sorastro7 жыл бұрын
Hi Fran! I don't thin the shades with water at all. If I do thin them with anything it will be with Lahmian Medium and I'll always say how much to use :)

Beautiful work with this miniature! Thank you for the excellent instruction. I particularly appreciate how you explained the purposes behind each step. As a painting noob, I started out by painting the Descent monsters, but am still building up the nerve to work on the heroes, as they are more detailed. Your instruction will go a long way toward allowing me to make that step. Thanks! Will there be additional videos for the other Descent minis?

Thanks a lot Brian! Yes I will be continuing the series - the next episode will most likely arrive April :)

Wondering about starting to start painting all of my Descent characters, always scared to start because they are so damn many, well have to start somewhere. I was also surprised how many colors were actually needed to do all the layers, but I guess the colors is sufficient for many painting section. Guess your video gave me the inspiration I were needing to get to the final push, but it don't look hard for one who can I guess. Will visit my local Games Workshop and see the price for these colors and start painting away :)

+Patrik Almblad Hi Patrik! Thanks for the comment. I agree there is a daunting number of minis for this game, but I think a sensible first goal might be to just get the base heroes painted up. That would already be pretty cool (since they're the minis you'd be seeing the most in the game whilst the enemies come and go) Then we can start chipping away at the monsters :)

Amazing video. I'd love to see you tackle some minis like Rum and Bones, Massive Darkness, Battlelore, Runewars board game and maybe something which I feel may be more challenging like the little minis from Kemet. However, my question to you is where did you get bases for your minis? I'd like to buy them. Also when you drilled into miniature how did you know where to place it on the base? What method did you use? Little mark on base or something? One last thing I use Vallejo paints are there compatible paints from those of citadel? What adhesive did you use to stick mini so you can paint? Lots of questions I know but looking at these high quality videos is like being in school maestro.

Thank you! I have actually done a couple of videos for Runewars which you can find here: kzbin.info/aero/PL6xOeNhrVj9tc5b7aUa8IYr-e6aHcKOEV -There should be a link to the bases in the video description but I'll paste it here too: shop.microartstudio.com/ancient-bases-round-25mm-5-p-882.html -To place the minis I just held the figure over the base to work out where to drill, then started drilling, although you could also mark the spot if it helps. -Yes you can freely mix Vallejo and Citadel paints (I do all the time!) - To stick the mini down I use white tack (poster putty) I hope this helps! :)
