Another excellent tutorial. I like the use of shades to achieve highlights by omission. How would you compare the Descent minis in relation to Black Plague's miniatures? Quality, detail or any other differences that are of note? Just curious.
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
Thanks John! I think the quality is pretty similar, although the Descent minis feel a little smaller and more fiddly. The Black Plague minis have a more exaggerated, characterful style which I also think makes them slightly easier to paint :)
@Cheeseburger24697 жыл бұрын
I believe the paint list at the end is incorrect as it does not include Temple Guard Blue and some colours are repeated

Hello my friend I once again wish to thank you for the help and confidence your excellent vids have given me in reteaching myself to paint miniatures again after so many years away from the hobby. Please could I trouble you for some advice? I am considering buying an air brush to help cover larger models, which brand do you think would be easy enough to learn with, but would also be good enough when I'm more experienced? I really do appreciate and respect your knowledge on the subject. Thankyou
@Sorastro7 жыл бұрын
Hi Sean! Thanks for the kind comment! Regarding air brushes I'm afraid it's a little tricky for me to comment on brands since I've only tried and owned one airbrush - which I find easy to use although it's a little at the pricey end (amzn.to/2k7yZxs). I've heard that the Badger Patriot 105 is a good solid brush for beginner to intermediate usage. I can also recommend this beginner's guide to help: miniarmyhugetimesink.wordpress.com/2014/05/15/so-you-want-to-airbush-a-beginners-guide-part-1/ I hope this helps some! :)

One more question: my only experience with painting is an awfully painted warhammer army many years ago. The thing is that I 'd rather follow your videos than paint something easier without your guidance.

Fantastic as always! One random question, how often do you rinse your brush between loading paint on them? I find when doing the small details that the paint dries on the brush so fast, even when watered down, then builds up on the brush reducing its effectiveness.
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Oh I'm pretty much rinsing and re-loading all the time :)
@JEGranberg8 жыл бұрын
Great work! I have some questions. For custom glazes, when should I use Lahamian Medium over water? Have you used wet palates, as when I've used the pit palate like yours, my paint dries out.
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's up to you really.. generally for pretty thin glazes I find water is fine; perhaps for heavier glazes you might find using medium helps achieve more even coverage. Regarding the use of a wet palette - I quite like to use one when I'm playing with ideas and working out my color schemes as they are handy for keeping the paint from drying and they do encourage a more "free-form" approach to mixing colors. I think I prefer a traditional palette for the tutorials however as it makes it easier for me to present nice clear ratios for people to follow :)

Hi, Im painting my very first Minis and am so grateful to have found your tutorials. I have heaps of questions tho. For example how long do i have to wait until painting another layer? How much primer do i need? Some of my minis look like ive thrown them into sand 🙈 How long does it take you to paint a Mini? Thanks a lot, mate
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
Hi ChillingWombat! OK.. it's usually pretty easy to see when the paint is dry; when it is then you're good to go ahead with your next layer. It's not usually very long - especially if you're applying thin layers (a minute or so..). If you are priming with a rattle can then just apply a couple of brief, sweeping blasts. You really don't want to over spray. (Also check the correct spraying distance on the primer instructions.) How long it takes me to paint a mini varies wildly depending on the mini - plus the filming process adds a lot of time too. If I wasn't filming I guess I'd be painting a mini in anything between 2 - 6 hours roughly. Hope this helps! :)

Oi Maestro, It's me again. I don't get where you use the Ardcoat, listed in the description. Oh and I have a general suggestion: You got me started with this hobby but i soon faced some difficulties since i didnt know some basic things like: - how to empty the primer's nozzle after each use - how to treat your brushes So the suggestion is to maybe include some videos in the future that cover some basics, or dos and donts distilled in a small video series, since now you mention a lot of basics in all the different videos, which makes it difficult to absorb everything, since the knowledge is quite scrambled. Since english is not my mother tongue i hope i could get the message across.
@Sorastro8 жыл бұрын
Hi Karl! I am planning to produce a complete beginner's guide to miniature painting (if I can find the time!) in which I will try to cover all those basics that you mention. :)
@karlhungus63888 жыл бұрын
That's great to hear! Mad props for all the good work! But still: Why the Ardcoat in the description of this video? What did you use it for? Maybe my attention always skips when you mention it in the video but i watched it a couple of times and didn't get what you used it for.
