I mean he did say "without permission". So, technically you're actually stealing electricity if you don't ask. I guess its a good thing. It doesn't burden the owner and helps people build good manners and being respectful. Imagine if everyday, at least 100 hundred people charge their phone on your restaurant, your electricity bill will skyrocketed. If you ask nicely, I think most Japanese wouldn't decline anyway. Also there's a charging station available in Japan I think

@@illusion5739 The battery capacity of a phone is typically between 12-15 watt-hours. Let's assume worst case 15 Wh, and your 100 people a day charge their phone from zero to fully 100%. Neighboring european countries have no problem doing this either, otherwise in Amsterdam there'd be a huge problem with cutting in line to worry about, among other things. Not British-derived at all (and you can't just lump all of Europe into "britain"). Japanese culture was never ruled by nor derived from Britain and ruling out Belize and India means that you have to rule out all cololnies except British *settlements* such as Australia and the US, which specifically had immigrants of European descent permentanly move to overseas colonies . I FINALLY arrived in Japan!! But as soon as I arrived I was arrested. I thought it was because of watching the morally questionable porn at the restaurant or beating up the guy in front of me so I could cut in line, or because of paying the bill with counterfeit money, but it was actually because I charged my phone in the restaurant to watch that morally questionable porn, and for cutting in line after beating the guy in front of me as well as for not reporting the excess change I got from the waitress at the restaurant after I paid the bill with counterfeit money that I got arrested!! As soon as I got released after a year or so I was arrested again the same day! I thought it was because the police found the bodies in the haunted spot I used to do KZbin videos in, but it was actually because they found an opened piece of mail in my room that belonged to my brother!! LOL. Way back in the dark ages (we're talking about 1980 here), my younger brother came home from high school complaining about how he'd been made to go to the back of the line when he was caught cutting in the school cafeteria. He didn't get such a hot lunch--it apparently included steamed cabbage. My father said to him, "Son, they're just trying to teach you not to cut in line at the Kmart, because you don't know if the guy you're cutting in front of isn't armed." I've remembered that, especially as the USA has gotten far more "armed" over the last four decades. /why yes, I'm an Old and I like watching Sora.

That's why 95% of the time, confrontation isn't worth it. It doesn't matter whether or not the issue is petty, or who's in the right or wrong. It's a matter of, "Is this worth potentially getting shot over?" That's why it's almost always better to just be the bigger man, and move along. Because you never know the mental stability of the person on the opposing side, nor what kind of nonsense they may resort to using.

Some states funny allow any sex position but missionary; some only limit certain acts, like a man not being allowed to kiss his wife's breasts (NC). Or, if you state you are married when going to a hotel, that can be considered legally binding into marriage. Not allowed to eat in a burning building. Or they make one that they can't even punish you for, like it is illegal to game end yourself in real life. How dumb the laws are is wild. Or how they choose to interpret or enforce laws. Like NC illegally copied a man's video that he made of black beards ship, didn't pay him for it not get permission, the posted or on the NC State website for people to watch for free. When sued, the state claimed that they are sovereign, and therefore he can sue them unless they agree to go to trial.

That’s insane. If you were cutting in line at McDonald’s, the amount of money they would have to spend to keep you detained. Would probably be like three months worth of McDonald’s. Especially depending on what you were ordering a small order of fries…

Not necessarily. Many abandonned and "potentially haunted" places are often dilapidated. For private properties, it'd fall on the owner of the estate, but for other places that are/were public like malls, schools, or hospital wings (like old psychiatric wards), the problem is if someone gets injured or dies from an accident then the city or state may become liable. There's also things like unknown structural integrity, potentially dangerous chemicals like lead or asbestos you may end up touching or breathing in (they were still legal to use for construction in the 60s in some places), unsanitary areas due to broken glass because of drunks and/or drug addicts (not many places offer free and discreet syringe disposal), etc. It's just a major headache and the average haunting seeker tends to not plan their trip well enough to deal with these situations.

That electricity thing is such BS. I've had this (rarely) happen in the US as well. Come on, we're just charging our phones. The cost of charging a phone is literally like 26 US cents for a whole year's worth of daily electric charges. I'm sure whatever local business I'm charging my phone at can handle the expenses. Heck, I'll pitch in a big bag of quarters to sponsor a whole small town if it makes them shut up. Bunch of cheapskates.

@@gurvmlk You could enter the establishment only to sit and read a book all day and not even buy a coffee. That would be a problem. Occupying a table and all that, using the bathroom or whatever. The problem would already be there - people occupying an area but not paying for any services. The whole issue of "illegal charging of demanding devices" is NOT a real problem - if it were then there would be problems everywhere. And there aren't. If there are, there are only perceived ones. It's true that some establishment owners have put up signs prohibiting clients from charging their devices (I saw one case in Canada, I believe it was), but that, again, was because the owner had the completely wrong idea about how much electricity this is actually about. Losing a single meal-buying customer because said customer isn't allow to plug in would cost more in losses than all their patrons charging their phone every time they visit.

Opening your family member's mail is a federal crime here in the US too but I've also never heard of anyone actually reporting it and getting arrested for it either. You might think this one is weird but we have to buy, maintain, and replace our own mailboxes and we're even allowed to decorate them to look like whatever yet they're actually still considered government property so if someone for example were to cause significant damage to a mailbox they can be arrested for damaging Federal property and that I have seen happen a few times before usually due to intentional vandalism and I think if it's an accident like if you ran into one with your vehicle nothing will happen as long as you pay to replace it quickly but I assume auto insurance would usually cover it or the homeowner can replace it themselves and sue for the damages later. Also I noticed what you did there with that subtle burn on Johnny Somali haha. I'm actually relieved that he finally got arrested since this man literally needed to be stopped. It's totally unacceptable how he went out of his way to be an obnoxious, rude prick while also mocking and disrespecting the culture and the people who live there, just being a general nuisance. I think it's very obvious to anyone that he has no 'real' interest in Japan despite what he might say because in the end his actions show that it's all orchestrated for his irl streams and clout. Plus he's making Americans look bad reinforcing the stereotypes when most of us would never behave like that anywhere in the world. Let's see if he learns his lesson this time since the threat of violence on several occasions apparently wasn't enough before, maybe the max 23 days behind bars will make reconsider his life choices, or maybe not. Either way he should be freaking grateful that it's not an American prison.

Number 1 never crossed my mind, but I live in the US. A lot of places here wouldn't take issue with that. Though, in a foreign country, I'd plead ignorance, apologize, remove my device from the outlet, then ask if I can at least charge the device while I'm there and removing it when I'm done eating/working. Interesting for number 2. If the Sora wasn't aware till making this video, it tells me it's really not enforced much. Generally, if a law isn't enforced, it becomes not common knowledge it exists. Number 3 is different in the US. It's not on the customer to make sure change is correct. An honest customer will return the excess change, though. (The scenario for this example is also called "entrapment") Number 4 is also illegal in the US, but it's largely a non-issue in a family that don't hate each other if it happens. It's still a trust and honor thing within families, so even if members don't hate each other, they generally won't open mail belonging to another member of the household. Also, if the address is wrong, but is in your mailbox, it's still illegal to open it. It's better to find the correct address and see if you can give it to them. If you can't physically turn it in to the correct address, you need to turn it in to your local post office so they can, hopefully, correct it themselves. The reason you need to turn it in to the post office if you can't physically turn it to the correct address is to avoid trespassing. If the address is correct, but the person it's addressed to doesn't live there, you need to "return to sender" listed on the mail, and possibly list the reason why. Number 5... *Looks at Bald and Bankrupt.* Though, Benjamin while in Japan didn't trespass, iirc... And, yes, we're aware who the dumb-dumb this bit was referring too...

In Brazil, it's a constitutional offense to violate other people's physical, telephonic, telegraphic and electronic correspondence. That's also on article 12 of the human rights charter. The reason is that governments can check correspondences to find and prosecute oppositors. It's a form of censorship and ideological control. And of course there's the case where your mother finds the stuff you ordered in a "discrete package". Yep, that's a human rights violation right there.

Same in Greece, the privacy of correspondence is in the constitution and had been extended to electronic correspondence like email, sms etc. and it applies to corporate email as well. Even recording audio or video outside of your private property is illegal unless you have special permission (e.g. anti-theft CCTV) or you do it for self-defense, i.e. to document an assault against you. Greece has had a military coup d'etat in 1967 and seven years of military reign of terror and this is the reason privacy laws are that strict.
