Shorathi dance is a traditional Nepali folk dance that is very popular in the western and eastern mid hills region of Nepal. It is performed by the Gurung and Magar communities during special cultural and social festival events. It is one of the very ancient dances of Nepal.
Shorathi dance has two types: the dance of male is called Turusungey and that of female is called Maruni. The dancers wear colorful costumes and ornaments, and use musical instruments such as Madal, flute, and sarangi. The dance is accompanied by songs that express love, joy, and sorrow. Shorathi dance is a beautiful and lively expression of the Nepali culture and heritage. This dance is performed by group of Pitlek Village of Syangja on the occation of Tamu Lhosar - 2080 programed organized by Tamu hyula Chhoj dhi, Syangja.
