A word of warning for high current DC loads, these may fail the switch closed unlike an AC circuit. High current DC can jump over an opening contact whereas AC is less likely for the same current. This is why there is a difference between DC and AC circuit breakers...

I have used one of this as thermal protection in my last projects. Instead of connecting it directly i conect it to relay to cut of the power when temperature are high. As relay are made to handel more power. Hope this helps in ur future project.

I used one of these for my 3d printer filament dryer so when it got to a certain temperature it turned the fan on so that the heat was more evenly distributed rather than just at the bottom. Always love your videos 👍

At 30 years old, I'm finally learning to do these things properly, instead of splicing and dicing. I've been wondering about exactly this for weeks.

The really big one you have in the thumb nail was the very 1st component I ever looked up online. Found it inside a car battery charger that was broken... (I wonder where that is now,🤔 I could fix it.) The thermal switch was working ok. Must look for that charger tomorrow 😊😊

What can we use to electrically insulate the metal without compromising heat transfer too much?
@Sorin_DIY
@Sorin_DIY 8 ай бұрын
Mica insulation sheet. Or you can use the thermal switch to trigger a separate relay with mains power.

Hey Sorin. I'm trying to reuse batteries from an old powerbank. How would I know that the battery isnt under voltage?
@Sorin_DIY
@Sorin_DIY 7 ай бұрын
You need to measure the voltage of each cell and test them with a battery charger/tester.
