Use 3 1W LEDs, placed on a metal heatsink and make the body out of an aluminum tube. Now you have an even more powerful torch with a good heatsink (add insulation or a handle cuz this gets hot)

Thanks so much for this! I copied this project to modernize a dinosaur flashlight I loved as a kid, and now I use it when I take the dog out before bed!

Didn't expect that this needs explaining on your channel but the LED voltage is not what matters. The LED current is what matters. The voltage for equal current will vary even between your 7 LEDs. So likely you overpower a few. The best way to drive those would have been to wire them in series and use a boost converter with a resistor in series to stabilize current. Edit: I also don't get why people still use 18650 without any fuse in series. If anything fails short, then this cell will happily drive 100A or more. If nothing breaks this current it likely catches on fire.

Hi. I know the current is important for the LEDs, that's why I recommended to add a resistor in series with the LEDs. I should have explained more about this (like I did in my LED Sign video or other videos with LEDs). I didn't add a resistor to this flashlight, because I wanted to stress test these LEDs to produce more light, at the expense of shortening their lifespan. But I did mention that adding a resistor in series will be better for the LEDs. About the fuse, yes, I should add one. I added fuses in almost all of my battery based projects. I was in a hurry to finish the build faster. But I did take a lot of precautions, I tested the battery and the modules, I sealed with glue and kapton tape the battery and all the joints and connections. but a fuse would have been better, I admit.

Sorin, just though you could add reflective tape to the inside of the led housing, unsure if that'd make a difference to the brightness though. Great project!

Great project and that trick of reducing a section of pipe to make the connection is a very cost-effective one 😀👍 I’m interested to know how clean the supply is from the new buck converter for use on more sensitive projects. Happy Christmas Sorin (and your assistant 😸)

I love this build. very practical. any SMD LEDs (for smaller flashlight project) that's efficient that you can recommend aside from what you used for this project?

Hi. I haven't tried smaller LEDs. but these are very good: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_De689Hf I used the 5W and 10W types, they are good but produce a lot of heat. they need a heatsink.

Please make a diy flashlight using button leds(which also operate at around 3 volts) with heat sink and a conical reflector using the mirror like reflective sheet which can be found inside broken mobile lcd screen. Please!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤ Use around four leds of 2 or 3 watts. And two or more batteries. That would be more powerful.
