Man, Neil, that was a strong 55 minutes speech. As everyone I am going through a phase, before 10 hours I destroyed my car from not caring by the speed, if I die or not, but I am still here! I watched all the video with tears in my eyes and at the end you killed me! I admire on you the balls it takes to speak about your deepest fears in front of so many people, and you sir have some balls of steel! Keep it up, be strong, be alive, be happy, do what you know to do! With love from a follower from Greece.

As it's 9 months later from this comment, I hope you are doing better now. Keep pushing through man. On a side note, his balls are made of 720 layers of damascus steel.

I had the opportunity to hang out and forge a knife with Neil earlier this year... probably one of the nicest and most down to earth dudes you will ever meet. He keeps it real he has the fiercest worth ethic I’ve ever seen. He claims that he’s not a good knife maker or he isn’t talented but he is definitely one of the greats. Being on Forged in Fire myself makes me feel small in the shadow of him. His story and power to deal with adversity fuels me to be better. Thanks Neil for sharing 🤙🏾

As someone who has struggled with his own demons my whole life, you have just changed my out look on life, I have just started knife making for the same reason, and it's helping, but what you have just done has given me a new perspective , and to keep trying, thank you from the bottom of my heart

I just learned about this from Jason Knight's video/podcast with Bert Sorin. I'm glad that Bert gave Neil a hug at the end. I wanted to do the very same. That was one of the bravest things I've ever witnessed.

Man, I stumbled across your Instagram just looking for 'ancient tanto'. What I stumbled onto was one hell of a person who does great things, and to me, is inspirational in making my knives one at a time until I save up for each new tool. I love making them. I cannot walk past my stuff without picking something up and doing something until I remember, Dude, LAUNDRY, or you came down here to get something for HER. When you make a Japanese style blade, I am right there looking at every small detail and taking it in!

MAHALO Neil for this story! I lost my mommy this past January 2024. Till this day I never cry. I couldn't figure it out. I was told by more than a dozen people that someone someplace something going trigger me. Well, guess what fucken happened?!! I look shit faced! I broke, you broke me, your story hit me hard as I was watching and listening to your story while at work for Maui's PD. I cant stop crying, my eyes burn and hurt cause im trying to hide from the officers. You know yea, I no come from an abusive family or suicide history. Just my parents were divorced, and my mom had been twice and lived lonely for the past 13 years with her last 13 years of breasts and then metastasized cancer. Me and my three siblings really miss her. I just like to say Mahalo for breaking me, and I can love myself even more!!! Mahalo 🙏🏽 Mahalo plenty!!!
