My coworker & I were playing with our abacus which are in our phones, we were multiplying numbers together & both of us got Confused af. 😅. We're still trying to figure it out.

Try some Soroban-based games, they teach you and increase level and complexity as you learn, making it fun!

Glad to help! I like Soroban, slide-rule and just about anything that makes you use your brain so you don't rely on a calculator! Thanks for watching!

Once you practice it becomes automatic, even faster than a calculator. There are games you can use on your phone to play and learn and then you don't even think anymore, you just do it!

In learning abacus calculation, you sacrificed your school method.. Was it worth it.

It is always worth learning... you do not sacrifice previous learning, only enhance it by seeing alternative methods which help understand the core ideas of mathematics!

The addition is instant. There is no need to think much when adding the numbers using the soroban.

Can there be a faster way?

Once you learn how to use a physical Soroban to calculations, experts begin to imagine a virtual Soroban in their heads and can do calculations faster than a calculator just in their heads. So yes the Soroban can be faster than calculators in certain situations and by experts. Just watch the Soroban competitions, even young students are amazingly fast!

Yes, for 3 digit by 3 digit, there is a faster way. Look up vedic multiplication. Soroban can help in it as a nice accumulator register.

Sorry Sir,why is your soroban even and odd?
@devhackmod
@devhackmod 2 жыл бұрын
What do you mean even and odd? The columns are grouped into 3-digit to represent thousands, millions, etc. if that's what you mean.

Beads above the middle bar are worth 5, beads below are worth 1. Add up all beads stacked against the middle bead.

Well multiplication is impracticable on this soroban. Imagine you have 4 x 4 numbers or even more ? Ok i finish before you on paper only.

Imagine you have no paper and pen, the soroban keeps track of things for you! It's your paper and pen combined! Then you get fast at using it. Obviously it still takes time to calculate things but it's another tool for keeping track of your mathematical progress, that's all.

This is BS, not only do you have to learn the math, but the abacus also. Its much easier on paper, the method never changes. Learning the abacus is more work, furthermore there are more calculations within it you have to do. Why are you subtracting 6 in a multiplication. Then theres making sure you don't misplace a bead. So when you add it all up theres a possibility in adding up the wrong answer, cos a bead might slip. Theres a reason the calculator was invented. I'm not gonna pull an abacus out my pocket if I need to do some number crunching 😂 Leave the abacus in the dark ages where it belongs.

It helps learn the mental math better, and when you’re in a test with no calculators, when you have an abacus in your head you have a calculator on you at all times. Abacus for kids is a great tool.

The abacus is the ancient computer. And it's not bs. It's how you're able to type on the internet rn.
