I used the Lost in a big fight one time. I kept describing them anytime they would cling to someone they would say things that they did before they mutated as they attacked. Like a child calling out for their parents or a woman who became lost in the Mists. Really upped the creepy factor.

The Sorrowsworn are D&D 5e's love letter to the creatures of Silent Hill. I look forward to employing these monsters when my players start plane-hopping.

Yes, I had the same thought. ~ And the whole case of Shadowfell is such a fantastic and intriguing material for some good stories (or encounters) to throw into a campaign!

I threw a hunger at the party, they summoned a cr5 demon to tank it and it died in one hit. Really scared them with it, plus resistance in dim light or darkness to weapon damages prevented the barbarian from out damaging everyone. good times.

I could see using the Shadowfell and the Sorrowsworn in a Twilight Princess style campaign. Like, the Shadowfell (either naturally or facilitated by a wizard or sorcerer) is bleeding into the Prime Material and the PCs need to find a way to stop it

I've always imagined planes like The Feywild and The Shadowfell to be weird funhouse mirror reflections of the Material Plane. Like an atom, where it's completely balanced in the Material, it may be more negative than positive in The Shadowfell and visa versa. In lamens terms, The Feywild is The Land of Oz, and the Shadowfell is that scene from Scooby-Doo and The Ghoul School where Shaggy gets put in a mirror by an evil version of himself. Lol

A better way to describe it is that the Feywild is Oz, and the Shadowfell is Silent Hill.

I wonder what would happen if a Hunger went to the plane of Positive energy. Would it explode from over consumption or would it just absorb energy endlessly?

I remember my party and I were heading into this dangerous, cursed forest which had a deep connection to the shadowfell. We were level...6 at the time, I believe. 6 or 7. We had come to this place for a supposedly sacred artifact that had long been buried here. That's another story for another time, but the important thing is that while searching, we came across this burrow under a tree, where a former adventurer had been slain. We found a journal on his body, which detailed how he, like many others before him, had come through the area seeking riches and had bitten off more than they could chew. He noted that he had been wounded by something with "hooks for hands" and how it "had this furious roar that shook your bones." Then, the journal said "wait, I can hear footsteps, how did it follow m" on the last page. Just as we finished reading, we heard footsteps outside. The Angry had found us.

I am hoping for more info on the Shadowfell, because I don't think it fair that Feywild can host more benevolent as well as malevolent people's, while Shadowfell has been described only as a hellscape. Ways to avoid becoming things like the Shadowfell.

The best way to compare the two planes are like this: the Feywild is a plane where everyone and everything is very manic in their emotions, and basically every creature’s emotions are in overdrive, like the Redcaps which are creatures of pure rage. In comparison the Shadowfell is where emotions are depressed and all the creatures are associated with things like lost and darkness.

Inquisitor Thomas depresion loss and darkness could be a interesting tame for a non hostile creater (sorry for my bad englis)
@Will_Forge

Inquisitor Thomas that's a good analogy. The way I think of them is that the Feywild is wild, including the personalities of the creatures and their emotions. It is chaos to it's extreme The Shadowfell is the opposite. It's law (control) to the extreme, even so far as to control your emotions. The longer you live in the Shadowfell, the worse your sorrow (for example) becomes, because you are locked in that emotion. It is part of the law of the land that you feel that way. And the only option is to feel it more and more, because you can never feel any other way.

Because those planes aren't about good and evil directly. Powerful good beings have used the Shadowfell to seal away creatures of great evil because it's a difficult place to escape from. A being living in the Shadowfell is eventually overtaken by despair, and in that despair is transformed not into something evil, but something apathetic, afraid, and out of touch with reality. The aspirations of creatures both good and evil are quenched with sorrow. If you've ever been depressed or anxious, I expect you would know quite well that your capacity for good was severely diminished during such an episode; but negative, self-effacing, and even destructive thoughts come easily. On the other hand, if you've ever had a manic episode, like the creatures of the Feywild, you might look back and realize that your extreme aspirations far exceeded your reach, and could even lead to violence, excessive spending or drug use, and rarely anything actually good for yourself or others; above all else, again, the manic are out of touch with reality. But you can decide for yourself in your own game. Maybe the Shadowfell is a place where people go to calm down, to balance their passions to more manageable and realistic levels. Maybe you could imagine a Jedi-like order of monks who seek a peaceful state of mind, and they use the Shadowfell to transcend things like emotion and desire. You don't have to wait for official content to have stuff like that in your games.

I don't know if a bit of a homebrew, but I am imagining that undead of the shadowfell can sense places of high amount of life in the material versions of the planes that are built up. So shadowfell cities are filled with undead, which can be fine for smarter undead like vampires, liches, to necromancers hoping to gain such undeath creating build up of evil. To be safe you have avoid well echoed areas, which are mostly people avoiding civilization, who have the shasowfell bring out their worst. Still hoping to come across something that perhaps could see the poetry of depressive nature of the shadowfell. Without being consumed by their negative thoughts and mean well for others. Maybe like the wereravens of CoS.
