People just don't understand what "second chance" means. Second chances are effective only if the person is punished for the original crime because punishment serves as a deterrent, reinforces accountability, and emphasizes the seriousness of the offense. Without consequences, there's no motivation for genuine change or understanding of the wrongdoing, which undermines the potential for reform and increases the risk of repeated offenses. Greenwood has not been punished. Playing for a top division la liga or ligue 1 side for more money than anyone of us will ever make instead of playing for man united is not a punishment, it's just man u moving him away so he can stop being their problem

@StephenC-k5o It *IS* insidious because Fabrizio has gradually, subtley, shared more and more about Greenwood after seeing his posts get more interactions from angry people, therefore driving more ad revenue. I'm a fan of Marseille, born and raised. I love this club more than most of things and I have accepted a lot of shit out of love for this team. Greenwood is the line which has been crossed. I refuse to watch my team while he's still working for my club, even as a janitor. But I'm the bad guy in social medias about the club (official or just fanclubs) for saying that, despite charges being dropped, he has done it. People say "but his gf forgave him / everybody makes mistakes". But tax fraud and domestic violences aren't the same kind of mistakes. Besides, whenever I asked if they heard the audios, nothing. That's the main problem : people haven't heard the audio. This is the key difference between him and other players which have been accused of crimes : proofs are available for everyone to see. Otherwise, I will never tell someone's guilty based on accusations without proofs. Which are important. When I see the amount of publications about him from Romano, I suspect that Greenwood paid him.

@@Dawg_Lotion I don't have a problem with him reporting the transfers, that's what people follow him for. But he didn't just report the Greenwood transfer, did he? He was actively posting only positive stuff about him and ignoring what didn't suit him. The problem is him being supposedly a journalist while doing PR for players whenever they're involved in some sort of scandal. That's not journalism, that's just being a mouthpiece without any critical thinking and it really hinders his credibility.

as a United fan, im glad hes finally moved on. But it does feel like what he did has been swept under the rug, and the likes of Fabrizio have helped to do that. He will do well at Marseille. He could very well do so well that he ends up coming back to the Premier League, or going to a Champions League team elsewhere in Europe. As if what he did never happened
@maciejbala4774 ай бұрын
Yeah because clubs find him too appealing as a player to care about what he did. It's the same logic why Kurt Zouma stayed at West Ham (ofc Greenwood is much worse). But overall clubs just see a good deal in terms of ability, which is reprehensible, but it has already been done a lot in the past. Marcos Alonso also still had a very good career after his incident. It often is the case that it happens when the player is just a good footballer

I think fans have a right to be upset about him coming to their club, i would be too. But the key thing is that these clubs are businesses, and he isn't a convicted criminal. He may be a disgusting human being but the opportunity that he represents for a club like Getafe or OM is immense, especially in France where clubs are poor as. This is in no way justification, I'm just saying it shouldn't surprise you that he has ended up at OM and may one day play for an even bigger club, there's 0 legal basis to say he shouldn't and that's the only thing businesses consider, business. If United could've kept him without protests they would've. So good on the fans for making noise, that is their role. I also wouldn't say it is being swept under the rug, nobody is unaware of it and nobody will forget it, he will be booed everywhere he goes including at home. The fact that clubs are willing to sign a player with 0 legal problems but several PR problems isn't it being swept under the rug, they've been dragged through the mud for it and their own PR will take a hit. Ie, there's no reason for Mason to be excluded from football, he isn't a criminal.

Greenwood’s transfer to OM makes me think of a very similar story a world away. Universitario (one of Peru’s big 3) signed Andy Polo (Peruvian player who was playing for the Portland Timbers at the time) after he was released by the Timbers and essentially fled the US after his wife brought charges against him for domestic violence. Peruvian media got ahold of audio of him beating her in front of their child w the child begging him to stop. After the uproar that the signing caused (with plenty of people online also defending him), the club gave him something like 2 weeks to “resolve his legal issues” before playing him which translated into them just waiting for people to forget about it/stop caring before they played him. Now he’s a starter at Universitario and is regularly called up to the national team. Disheartening but not at all surprising that our society still sweeps domestic violence issues, in football and otherwise, under the rug.

He's not apologized, condemned his own actions, or done anything to merit public forgiveness. Gifting him a cushy job where he makes millions and is a famous celebrity is vile, and sends a message that r*pe is ok and has no negative consequences (especially if you're famous and wealthy). I'm glad someone with a relatively large platform is talking about this. Its not just Fabrizio either. A lot of the legacy media (namely Britains' favourite toilet paper The S*n) have been milking the Greenwood situation for every penny they can grab. It's disgusting. I'm frankly ashamed that our legal system allows a man that the whole country knows is a r*pist to not only walk free, but go and earn tens of thousands a week playing football. I have at least noticed public perception has been pretty unilaterally against him, though it was a little worrying how quick people were to defend him at first without listening to the recordings. It does seem like everyone has caught up now, thankfully, and I've seen 0 support for him ever playing on these shores again for quite a while. Truth be told it's probably not safe for him to do so. Someone would invade the pitch and attack him, and frankly, I'd shed no tears over it if they did.
@jonsnow27914 ай бұрын
The whole country knows he's a ra*pist? This type of line of reasoning is poor to the extreme, since when is the court of public opinion the determiner of the truth, let alone capable of weighing evidence of whose actually guility or not.
