Sharing my thoughts when I heard about the issue going on. I'm not really into the #CancelKorea thing yes I'm hurt too but letting them know how we feel without dropping hateful comments is much better than imitating those who started throwing hurtful comments to us Filipinos. I honestly think it should be #CancelRacism. Anyways Koreans Apologised, and we Filipinos accepted it and in behalf of those Filipinos who commented inappropriately I would like to apologise as well. An open letter for everyone I mean how come people blame a single person who had a tattoo that she had not even put a meaning into it? Should those korean people in the first place blame a person for her ignorance and someone’s sensitivity towards a certain symbol?? She already apologized but she’s still being bashed until now. One lashed and followed by another, then it led to another thing where “some” korean people ended up generalizing filipino’s as uneducated blah blah? Filipino’s have their own pride but insulting them for something that they can’t be privilege about, does that even make those certain korean people who claimed themselves educated, worthy of their education? On the other hand, Filipino’s have lashed out of their frustration and anger seeing their flag being ruined like that. We understand that filipinos have a strong patriotism in terms of their love for their country. It’s in their blood, from their ancestors who have survived many foreign occupations in the past. While this is said, it is also wrong to throw insults towards the other side. People being insulted would not be expected to not be angry since it is “intentionally” being done so in response of some earlier arguments. That being said both sides are just going on each other’s throats. It started through one innocent tattoo. It’s a freaking tattoo who someone put on their body in appreciation of art. An innocent mistake that she’s not even aware of. But do you people realize what’s the most scary thing out of this? All these anger and hatred was caused by one single platform, “social media”. That’s the real evil, it causes conflict, misunderstanding, anger and worst lives are lost from it. To filipino’s who even spared time clashing with these people, I think silence would be the best possible way of dealing with them. They have their high sensitivity towards certain symbols, that’s not filipino people’s fault, we just have to do what we filipinos do best, live our life as we have lived through all those years of sufferings caused by other nations brought by war. Our blood carried our ancestors sacrifices, from past to present, let us not put shame and regret to what they’ve whole heartedly done to help a neighbor who needed help in the past. Our shortcomings for this age is not being able to educate our younger generations, thus they’ve grown unreasonable over time. Instead of bashing each other, let’s make efforts to teach our children peace, friendship and acceptance that does not hold gender, culture, age, race, religion and beliefs as basis of getting along and loving each other. Gumagalang, KKK (Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan) Let’s go back to our roots, we live through our conviction, not by other people’s hate.

Filipinos have strong connection to Koreans for a very long time, not just in ancient history or war but local entertainment industry too, outside the Hallyu wave. Grace Lee, Sandara Park, Ryan Bang, Sunshine Kim, Dasuri Choi and Shine Kuk are some examples that Koreans are strongly integrated to the Filipino society. Koreans will always have strong attachment to Filipinos. Thank You Koreans for helping us via donations when the Phillippines suffered from natural disasters. I want to apologize to koreans who didn't even participate in this clash...to be honest the reason why filipinoes got triggered more was because of the Philippine flag that was ripped apart if it didn't happen the damage on both side would be less...and the fire had grown bigger after kbs showed a pic of ripping of korean flag without showing the origin of who did it first... yes filipinoes should've stopped but you should know that filipinoes got colonized 3x by Spaniards, Americans, and Japanese and our pain is also deep there is a story about our flag that's why messing with our flag is a no go... I'm not spreading hate but I also want to explain the side of the filipinoes who posted emotionally than using their brains FYI: most of the haters/ racist filipinoes who posted are teenagers who think they know everything about life and probably it's the same with korea too... so adults please think straight before attacking every single korean you meet

I am Korean. And honestly, Korean people are too sensitive. People in other countries honestly don't know much about Rising Sun Flag. In Korea, almost everyone knows that the flag is bad because we learn about Japanese atrocities in great detail. But the contents of education vary from country to country. How can they know that the flag is bad when they have never learned it? But Korean people use swearwords without a sudden. All we have to do is let them know kindly, not cursing them and cursing their country. It's really a shameful act. Why do we want respect when we don't have respect? we have to change our mind. The same will happen if people in other countries use the Rising Sun Flag. Apology is important, but the most important thing is respect. And personally, I was envious of the people of ASEAN countries. They are different countries, but they love each other. I could feel Indonesian people's love for the Philippines as a representative. But people in Korea, Japan, and China are busy fighting with each other. I'm so sick of it. We need to emulate ASEAN countries. I hope we can work together to overcome the hardships of COVID-19. First of all I am indian. And I do agree with your point that some koreans or should I say majority of the koreans are overly sensitive. I just came to know that koreans still hold grudge against the japanese because of their invasion and whenever the issue of the rising sun flag comes they get triggered easily. We indians were under the british rule for almost 200 years and we too suffered alot. There were lots of massacre. We learnt about them in our schooling days. But I dont think we hold grudge against the britishers and our teachers back then never told us about hating them. And personally I wanted to blame my ancestors because they let the britishers took advantage of them. But this is my personal view. I also saw an article about Vietnamese comfort women for south korean soldiers during the vietnam war. And I don't see vietnamese always hating south koreans instead they are admiring them now. My point is koreans are loved by japanese now through kpop and k dramas. It is better to stop this hatred because the current japanese generations are not responsible for what their forefathers did. Let the past be gone though it may be painful because hatred is contagious and it can bring wrathful consequences. We love kpop and k drama. But the recent fued between the filipinos and koreans is not a nice site especially how some korean netizens bash filipinos. But then, I also saw a lot of koreans apologizing and filipinos accepting their apology. That is the good part. By the way, you may not be aware of the fact that there is a part in india called northeastern india which I belong and we are madly in love with kpop and k drama. So, my korean chinggu please stop holding grudges because we all suffered from war and now let us spread love not hate.

We grew up watching Japanese anime and still watch it. Koreans learn Japanese a lot in school along with Chinese. I think the current Korean government encourages anti-Japanese sentiment for the election. On the contrary, they are nicer to North Korea, which fought only 50 years ago, than to Japan. Of course, the Japanese government's attitude of not reflecting on its past or economic retaliation is also problematic. But we can't stay in the past forever. We are already familiar with Japanese culture, and more and more Japanese people are enjoying Korean culture. So stop fighting and get along well with each other. Love and respect should be prioritized over hatred.

What i mean in the word "FORGET" is not forget that it happened but the ill feelings. Filipinos, in my opinion, are very simple, when someone have wronged them, they get angry but once that person asks for forgiveness and sincerely say sorry they will accept it and given the time they will let go of the negativity, which is also i like. Hi I'm Korean. I feel really sorry for racism to the Philippines and I hope we become good friends.. I think the thoughts of history in Korea is different. Korean cant forget history when Japan colonized our country because nowadays Japan government don't admit and apologize about war crimes. We Korean want apologize from Japan (but they dont, so Korean get mad at this matter) My grandfather remember that cruel times until now and he also wants their apologize.. "For a nation that has forgotten history, there is no future." This is a famous saying in Korea. I agree everyone should take on the mindset of always moving forward no matter how painful things were. However, we should not say Koreans are over reacting or that they should just forget about it because its in the past. We may have suffered the same fate under the Japanese but it is not right to invalidate their pain. Filipinos moved on - good. But we are not in position to tell them what they need to do. They have been asking Japan to apologize for decades to no avail. Let's all stop with this dismissive behavior. They are entitled to what they feel.

Our comfort women have been fighting for this for many years now. Their struggle isn't over yet. Still no formal apology and compensations and their time is running out.
