Pretty impressive voice for Alan Tudyk as King Candy / Turbo. His voice as Turbo when they told his backstory was similar to King Candy's and the fact that he was in a racing game was a subtle hint at who he is posing as in the movie.
@richardryley366020 күн бұрын
The foreshadowing of Turbo's reveal is a masterclass in misdirection. First the term "Turbo" is dropped as a Street Fighter reference so you'll discard it as a joke while still understanding that it means something bad. Then it keeps coming up in reference to Ralph leaving the game, until Felix finally explains it to Calhoun, as well as us. This is major foreshadowing as well, because it establishes that the residents of the newer games don't know the other members of the arcade as well as old timers like Felix and Ralph. But King Candy knows Ralph on sight AND knows the meaning of "Going Turbo". Anyway, Felix's story plants the suggestion that Turbo died with his game, so we dismiss him again. All set up for the big reveal to catch us off guard. And the flashback is in eight but form, while the reveal shows us his rather disturbing real face. He was intentionally designed to look both eight bit and three dimensional, by the way, and it's handled perfectly.

In all of the Street Fighter games, Zangief isn't ever actually a villain, just "the Russian wrestler" character who enters the World Tournaments to represent Russia. In his storyline in Street Fighter Alpha 3, he was actively fighting _against_ M. Bison and Shadaloo. He was really only a "bad guy" in the live-action movie (and then only because he thought Bison was the good guy and the Allied Nations was evil), the Street Fighter II V anime, and the animated TV series. According to Wreck-It Ralph screenwriter Phil Johnston, he wrote Zangief as part of the Bad Guy group because he was a source of frustration for him when playing Street Fighter in his childhood. The reveal of King Candy/Turbo, and Vanellope being the princess of the Sugar Rush game, has always made me wonder if “King Candy” was ever an actual character that Turbo killed. Could he have been like an actual father to Vanellope at one point, but then Tutbo came in, killed him, and then usurped the position and rewrote the code? Or did he just claim the title “King”, even though Vanellope’s title of Princess was the highest in the game, know what I mean? If it’s the former, then in a way, Turbo’s just wearing the skin of Vanellope’s late father, or necromancy, reanimating him and playing the role. The Mentos Beacon finally put him out of his misery. That’s my personal headcannon anyway.

@@sophiaescareno8410 i mean fair My older sister too loved that movie and even kept rewatcging it over and over I just feel like they were really headed somewhere and then flipped the direction without flipping the path, if you know what I mean But still that's just my opinion and your is gonna be something different so, happy you liked it

@@TitaneRam I stand in the middle. I think the lessons taught in the sequel were far more unique and rare than in the first, and I respect that. I just really wish they could have made that work without messing with the characterization of the main characters and basically spitting on some of the cardinal rules established, with clear good reasons, in this movie. Things like "It's bad to abandon your game and go Turbo just because you don't like where you are right now" Vanellope literally becomes Turbo/King Candy in the sequel and everyone is fine with it. Well, other than the code altering.

Fun fact: the chill zombie in the bad guy support group is based on one of the mob enemies in the 1990s arcade shooter game "House of the Dead. Also I belive the yellow dinosaur in the background in the surdhe protector waystation was Sauron from the arcade fighter game "Primal Rage".

For those who haven't seen the movie yet... Spoilers ahead! ... 28:00 - This is a classic example from all kinds of stories. The Hero desperately believes he wants something and works hard to get it. Then he gets it - but realizes he's no happier with what he sought. Ralph thought that a medal would win him the acceptance of the town. But then he finds that acceptance he sought in Vanellope, who loves him as he is.

The scene where he wrecks her car had me BAWLING when I was little, it like every memory I've ever had of something precious to me being taken/broken by someone else flashed through my mind. Also, the reveal of the King being Turbo literally shook me to my core. Like usually a character gives you vibes that they're the villain pretty early on, but TURBO??? It was crazy seeing this again.

We see in this movie that Vanellope can learn to control her glitching, so I don't understand why Ralph didn't help her learn how to get a better hold on it so she'd be safe to play the main game.
@someoneelseishere59643 ай бұрын
We also see in the movie that her glitching was always a part of her. If Vanellope can control her glitching just fine, then why would Ralph need to teach her anything in the first place??? Plus, it was already proven her glitching was never gonna be a problem in the main game and she was always gonna be safe to play.
@leaderlamby3 ай бұрын
@@someoneelseishere5964 Well when he first met her, it was evident that it wasn't something she could control very well. She didn't purposefully glitch herself into the mentos. She figured it out herself later on, I just think Ralph taking the time to help her would've sped it up and been a better idea than smashing her cart and forcing her to watch.
