I find it quite deceiving, as well. It takes years of experience to make it look ‘easy & breezy’. Seeing Kush in his element is motivational. he belongs to a kitchen. In the meantime, I’m a total Mike: Doing my best, preparing good food and unjustly comparing my own journey to a master, expecting a masterpiece out of my own skills. I loved how honest (and funny) was Kush on criticizing Mike’s food. Loved this.

@@rulitossimplyrulitos1088 As a former professional chef the big difference between me and most amateurs is experience which is just a matter of practice which anyone can get and not immediately panicking as soon as you start cooking. Just do what Kush did in this video, figure out what is going to take the longest time and do that first and then move on from there. Also there are lots of things that are complicated to make that involve cheap ingredients. Even if you absolutely ruin them you're only out your own time. I probably went through 100lbs. or more of onions at home mastering French Onion soup. But you can pick up 25lb bags of onions for cheap.

One of the best moments for me in the kitchen was about 8 years ago, cooking with my uncle, who used to be head chef at a Michelin rosette restaurant. We were making a massive batch of spaghetti bolognese together for a family meal. My recipe, he said "Anything I can do to help?" I said, yeah we need to make a huge soffrito, so can you peel and dice 4 onions, carrots and like half a bulb of garlic" and he said "Yes Chef" I nearly wept from the 'fizzy feeling' as Kush puts it, plus the weird role-reversal, as usually it'd be me doing what he said in the kitchen, him being the actual, qualified chef.

It’s Kushtastrophe vs Huttlestorm! Everyone should be on high alert and of course we’ll be rewarded with face journeys. Also, so excited to see what they come up with! Happy Wednesday to SortedFood HQ and the Community!

That was fun. It reminded me of cooking with a couple of mates of mine. We're all pretty decent in the kitchen & it was fun seeing our different takes whilst using the same ingredients. Would like to see more of these.

love to see Kush 100% comfortable in front of the camera in a professional way, I mean we already knew he can go crazy Kush in front of the camera blowtorching everything, and we love it too, but it's nice to see him cook and explain everything so efficiently and interact with mike (daddy grip Michael)

@@SortedFood If you ever get *Serious Kush* talking about working as actual chef, I'd like to hear what working in *real* restaurant kitchen is like. All conveyer belt, head chef pleasing, bit of mischief or something completely different. I imagine it can't be soul rending conveyer belt achieving perfection or all the chefs in world would had quit... But Kush being just delightfully goblin (weekender aside) can't have been how he worked in the restaurant kitchen part of his career >>a

Great idea, very enjoyable too watch. I'm glad Kush seems to be more and more comfortable in front of the camera - it's great to watch him cook and he has some nice pieces of advice (and also a different sense of humour, another value added). At the same time Mike brings the uncertaintly and slight messiness of a home cook, which makes it really easy to empathise. I'm always happy to hear their final remarks - how both chef and normal can praise the efforts of the other one and humbly accept the truth about the areas needing some improvement. It's also very useful to see that some technique does make a huge difference for a dish - so it's worth going extra mile!

Too be honest, I don't think you guys do "sides" very often, because you focus generally on making an entire meal. What about a Chef vs Normal for some basic side dish, like French Fries. Something that is specifically made to be served with something else, or as a snack food.

More of this please! With each of the normals taking on Ben or Kush, then a Ben Vs Kush one. I think the cards hampered Mike a little as trying to organise them maybe threw him off a bit. Could do a lifeline instead? Maybe he gets to ask a chef (competitor or side line one) a yes no question? LOVED the graphics under Kush speaking about chef skills and showing off little things that make a big difference!
